I have a 2.0zetec focus with the 5 speed box as standard but what i wanted to know as i cant find it anywere is what are the ratio of this box and the 6 speed in the st170 is it just a 6th gear added on the end as i love the standard ratios but a sixth gear would be amazing for work any help would be apriciated cheers,Dom

ST170 six speeder is a little bit more than 'a 5 speeder with an extra gear'.

Haven't done a lot of driving with one myself but a friend who had the 2.0 litre box and then converted to an ST170 box said he found the ratios were all wrong for his Zetec turbo'd motor. It was as if the 6 speeder's ratios all fell in between the original 5 speeder gearing so he was always struggling to keep the car on the boil by either being half a gear too high or half a gear too low for his engine.

There's quite a bit of faff converting though, you need the ST170 'box, selector cables and gearstick as well as the st170 flywheel (dual mass jobbie as standard) and clutch and then you need to modulate the crank position sensor so that your dials will read correctly.

A lot of effort for not a lot of gain in all honesty.
