Prices vary quite a lot, i charge £250 per day but you can pay a lot more than that,go on www.detailingworld.co.uk there will be a list of detailers in your area,or get yourself a machine follow the guide on there (its not to hard), you just need a lot of patience because it can take hours per panel if you want a good finish

better off buying a machine polisher for £150 ,doing it yourself, then you got the machine to use whenever you like.
plus you can spend as many hours on your own car doing it properly.

Thats mega cheap for both if it was getting sumbody to machine polish my car id expect anywhere from 200+ for a basic enhancment and 350+ dependant on correction needed materials are getting more expensive like anything else these days and its a case of you get what you pay for imho.

do your research mate before you attempy anything.
its not hard at all.
a mate did mine a few weeks back and the difference is unbelievable.
he used the dodo juice machine polisher with a product called lime prime first.
then a finishing polish after and its like glass, really stunning.
car was washed, and clayed prior to polishing.
you can also use something like 3m fast cut,but just go gently, and dont stay in the same place too long.
not rocket science,just polishing lol

I bought this recently for £106:
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polish.../prod_721.html
And is all you need to get going. That and a clay kit.
Then read this thread on Detailing world fully and give it a go:

the lasting of the shine depends on what you do next, how you protect it and then how you wash it!
i snowfoam it to start,
i wash with the 2 bucket method,
then i dry it off,
then i go round with some tar remover,
followed by a claybar kit,
after that i normally quickly rinse it off again then dry it,
then i start my polishing i use a combo of menzerna pads on a meguirs g220,
polishes i use are: menzerna power finish to start with then i go to meguirs scratch and swirl remover and then on to final finish,
once ive done that i snowfoam the car off,
then put a layer of poorboys black hole on it then on top of that i finally wax it with dodo purple haze.
it lasts a good amount of time but i do use it everyday to go to work so it gets dirty very quickly! id say anything from £200-£400 is good depending on what level of work your having done.

The prices for paint correction/detailing sounds expensive mate but if they are good, what they can do is amazing and takes alot of work.
They measure your paint thickness to ensure they wont go through, they use different pads and compounds depending on paint hardness and the level of cutting required to get the paint perfect and swirl/scratch free.
If you check out detailers world you will see just how much goes into it, then on top of the time spent, you have to look at all the products used.
It really is value for money IF you intend to keep the car, the paint is generally good but needing a boost. With some good products you can then keep it in top condition. I have played with da's, i have one, but even so, I would still consider paying out to have the car proffessionally done.
check out this guy, not for the car, b ut how bad it was and how it was turned around, he does a few on here and its always good work

see the over all paint work on my car would come up well i believe, but i have a few scabby rust spots so i dont know whether to paint the whole car (which i cant afford at the minute) or paint the bad bits then get it machine polished
plus im always gonna be into cars and plan to keep this one so i may as well buy my own polisher? cheers Neil

£160 for 2 cars does sound cheap
Realistically to do as they say "Enhancement" which in my opinion should consist of at the bare minimum:
Clean wheels
Pre wash (including all badges and panel gaps etc)
Wash (including bonnet, boot and door shuts)
De-tar
Clay paint work and glass to remove bonded surface contaminants
Single stage machine polish
Glaze
LSP (either wax or sealant)
Polish Glass
Polish exhausts (If applicable)
Dress tyres and external plastics
Wax or sealant on wheels
*May have missed somethings as off the top of my head but you get the idea*
This is only if quoting external work (some will include a quick vacuum and interior glass and maybe quickly doing engine bay if modern car with the plastic covers)
For all the above i'd say your looking at least 7-8hrs on a standard size car...so in all fairness i'd say you'd be looking at least £150 per car, and as said by others materials are going up in price and they do get used quite quick.
Doing it yourself can be an option but its whether you have the patience to spend a whole day on the car or pay someone that does it day in day out.
This is the wrong order bud,
Lime Prime is a pre wax cleaner and even with the version with abrahsives is still less abrahsive than a finishing polish so should be finishing polish then Lime Prime then wax
Hope this helps

I`ll have to look into all this myself.I have the Freud polisher from machine mart,2 speed which is regarded as the bollox for cutting and polishing but i`ve only really used it on poor/fresh./damaged paintwork.
It gives the mirror finish result, but i find it doesnt last that long unless I put some sort of wax on it,then its pretty resilient although I`m totally old scholl so it`s G3 and autoglym for me so I need some educating.
I`ve heard a lot about clay but isn`t it just the same as say 1500/2000 paper on a block? I suppose it would be quicker and less harsh with clay.
