It is quite easy really!

At the end of the day there is no replacement for displacement, and the vr6 doesnt weigh much more than 1.8t in actual fact, its a myth that it makes the car front heavy, you just need slightly different compression rates on the suspension to compensate (which no one does, then complains).

stock block, 8:1 cr, gt35r (1.06), SP 263, SP SRI, 3" turboback, 95 octane. 20psi

Goodluck doing that on a standard 1.8t, we know the conrods fail at 300hp for starters!

All fair points, although the engine is roughly 40-50kgs heavier, which is a lot hanging out the front.

Would still rather have a well tuned 1.8T

my mate has a skoda octavia 1.8t 4wd thats been remapped with new exhaust and induction, running about 230hp and its the nuts

i reckon one of these engines would be great fun in a mk1 or mk2 fiesta aswell good alternative to a zetec turbo maybe?

Great engines with huge tuning potentials especially a mapped later bam lump. Well suited to a light and nimble track car....great spool up etc. Golfs/leons/s3s arnt the lightest of cars, stick it in a sub 1000kg car, would make a weapon!!

You're not wrong, it would be absolutely phenominal in a shell that light.

Slightly off topic, I'm having a 1.8T VAG lump stuck into a Mini, complete with an IHI VF34 turbo.

Spent some time looking at the engine choice and was steered to the 1.8 lump instead of the v6 one.
