Brake pedal boxes etc?
Ok, I have plans for my RS1600i over next winter which include more power in turbo form. Im collecting things now ready for when I do it. One thing though as you all know is RSi's suffer from shocking brakes so I dont want to up the power and not do the brakes too!
What options do I have? First thing I though was pedal box, but to tell the truth I know nothing about the subject!
Cheers

what size wheels will you be using? std?
if so, i would run cossie set mine was good
its the bar that runs across the engine bay thats the poor bit
could run a brace to servo as this will flex
if you go for a pedal box go for a floor mount
i have a willwood jobbie and im soon gonna be changing to a floor mount from obp

Cheers Gus yeah going to run srd wheels I want it looking atd as possible....IE running megajolt and keeping the twin coils! Regarding the transfer bar yes thats my point mate I was thinking of options to do away with that! The rs1600i's came with servo brace bars anyway and theyre still pants! Its strange as the brakes on my mk3 Ghia are spot on and brake to the touch!

As above, brakes arent too bad on a 16i its the bar and the linkage that boreham designed to make it fit RHD thats the problem
If you can see where it flexes the bulkhead where the linkage is then you could weld in some support which will cure the spongy feel ( bulkhead flexing ) then you could just upgrade brakes in the normal way. I know a few peeps who have done this over the years
They should have used the same setup as a 3i but the bar didnt clear the 16i inlet manifold i think

yeah thats why the XR3i inlet is angled mate to clear the brake fluid res/master cylinder.!
Obviously Id like to keep the std setup in the bay IF I can get good brakes. Whats the max size 4 pots and rotors you can get under 15's? 300mm?

I really didn't get on with my pedal box. Hated it infact. Seriously lost confidence in the braking power even wioth AP 4 pots and 330 mm discs.
Best setup I had on mine was the 300 mm discs with Mondeo calipers. They were the tits. But they won't fit under your standard wheels

dont think there is anything wrong with the willwood pedal box, its just not the right application for my car
i brought it after a mate brought one for his
turned out his brakes wasnt upto much either
should of just listened to the people i had putting the car together (did in the end)
i just not go enough travel on my pedal
