Fast & Furious 5 - Out Today.. Whos Going To See It?
General Car Related Discussion. To discuss anything that is related to cars and automotive technology that doesnt naturally fit into another forum catagory.
Crikey, having actually seen it now, the way they totally disregard the laws of physics completely in the last ten minutes with that nonsense driving the safe about, I really cant understand why anyone was bothering to worry about minor inaccuracies elsewhere when reviewing it
What a total load of bollocks.
Was good fun to watch up to that point though, worth the money to go and see overall I reckon.
I'm off to see it this afternoon as i've got an Cineworld Unlimited card with a few hours to kill And i'm taking the Sierra. So might have the do the 10 gear change thing on the way home
Hoping it's not too far fetched, should still be a watchable film.
I have to agree with chip.. was a fun film, but the safe bit fucked me right off.
10 tonne safe smashing through everything in its path, and yet easily pulled round corners by two cars with tyres about 245 and no weight over the back end of them
It really did just go from bad the worse the longer they were draging it about, just SO unrealistic.
Still, some of the birds in the film had nice arses, so on balance that cancels it out

Its just the normal hollywood poetic license really for most of the film until the last 10 mins or so, then it just goes totally ridiculous and shows itself right up.
not just the smashing everything in its path... it's the way they managed to basically yank it out of the building in the first place too!
don't worry though.. they had special bumpers welded on the backs of the cars so when they stop and it doesn't there won't be any damage..
Yeah, same issue, just utterly nowhere near enough grip to overcome its initial inertia, just like nowhere near enough grip to pull it off at a tangent to go round a corner once it was moving in a straight line.
The whole thing just didnt work at all, they may as well have just stuck an outboard motor on it and sailed it up the high street.
Jay, while I agree its pointless analysing such films, what we are talking about here is so glaringly obvious it requires no actual analysis, it just hits you in the face full on like a smack from a ten tonne safe pulled by two 1.5 tonne cars
Is the last ten minutes as epic as Eleanor being jumped over the cars on the bridge and landing with no real damage on Gone In 60 seconds ?
It does wind me up when they do things that would so obviously end in tears or more than likely death
Its just as ridiculous but goes on and on and on, its not just a few seconds its minutes and minutes of utter nonsense.
Up to that point, its all only a bit ridiculous like most hollywood films, but the moment they attach the cars to the safe, the laws of physics dont just get bent anymore, they get completely ignored.

is it as bad as the new italian job where the safe drops about 3 floors into a fibreglass boat?
So its true ? They really have left it open for a 6th film !
Jesus lord above ....... whats the record for this ? The Rockys or something ? Whats that on now 6 ?
No one moans when another Bond comes out

Erm that's all I can remember as well as the obvious tuned jap stuff sure have missed a few tho
DeTomaso Pantera, I served my apprentiship working with those
I really enjoyed the film tbh, and as other's have said, make sure you stay until after the end credits as the short peice of film at the very end has a slight twist and sets it up for the sixth.
They said they are trying to steer away from the "Racing" side of things and trying to get a more "Action" type of film, as Tokyo Drift didnt do as well as they thought, they figured the racing type of film was on its last legs
