Default Disabling ESP on Focus ST race car.

Was chatting to a new guy at work the other day he is involved with running a Focus ST race car.

Biggest problem they're having with it is the PCM (ME9) is cutting power in the corners (ESP/traction control) Even with it switched off. They've tried a few off the shelf remaps (Bluefin etc) but still problem remains. I know on VAG ME7 stuff the ESP/ABS/EDL can be coded out on VCDS.

He'd tried all sorts of stuff like disconnecting sensors etc but that puts faults in and still problem remains.

Looking for advice of who to speak to regarding changing software to cure this issue.

Cheers. Gary.

I hate the esp it bogs the car down it gets alot better with esp off but still does it if you loose traction for long periods

I drove one with the Mountune 260ps file recently, very impressive. That didn't seem to cut power much at all with ESP switched off. I didn't ask if they've tried the Mountune file on it.

I've driven STs with Bluefin and Wolf software , but the Mountune drove MUCH better.

Not that simple sadly...that disables the EBD so you get too much bias on the rear brakes = locking.

Also the PCM will not see the ABS/ESP via CAN and put PCM in 'limp mode'.

fry the abs module with a bit of voltage, jump the thing off with your foot on the brake pedal, i know a salesman who done that.
or take it to ford and ask them to config it the way u want it. ie program the abs module for a 1.4 focus cause its the same module as the st
but diff software.

have u unpluged the yaw rate sensor yet it might work

We have access to IDS so will look into it, cheers...

I seem to remember the late Focus goes through vin verification process when coding modules so wonder if that can be tricked or not.
