the folt only started at the weekend,i drove to a camp site in northampton (rs central day weekend)witch is a 2hour drive, car ran fine the next morning went to start it and it wouldnt the pump primed but would just turn over and not fire at all,so i keept trying to start it ignition off ignition on then on the fith time off trying wilist turning the car over the fuel pump kicked in sounding very week then the car started and car ran fine drove to pod no problems left the car parked up allday went to to leave pod crossing my fingers it would start and it did by my surprise, then on sunday i had the same problem and it did the same thing not starting at first and so on,then drove back home that night no problems.
has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this to happen??

Sounds like a relay or bad connection

I've got an 90 spec EFi Orion, an i had similar problems not long back. Fuel pump occasionally failing - then total failure left me dead on petrol station forecourt.
Managed to get it towed home and started to inspect the fuses/wiring etc... all was good, so took pump & sender off (you have to drop the tank off the car - they're mounted in the top on an EFi) I wired the pump to a battery - dead as a dodo.
Fetched a pump & sender off a mk5 EFi escort - Ł10 scrappy job (same pump - different sender, just removed the pump from the sender unit and fitted to my 90spec one) Still dead. Took the pump off the sender unit and wired it to a battery, worked fine. Even my original pump sprung into life when not fitted to the sender unit.
Turned out : Theres a black in-line suppressor (a small black box) mounted on the plate of the sender unit - this was what was knackered on mine. Didn't bother replacing, just cut the wires off the suppressor and joined them together.
I'm not saying thats definately whats wrong with yours, but that happened to me not long ago. I'd definately investigate fuses & wiring to the tank, then if no luck, look into swapping the pump and cutting that suppressor out of the circuit.

i'v changed the relay and i'v had the tank off and checked the wiring what i have found is if i hold the relay in my hand and turn the ignition on it clicks and the pump primes then when i try and start the car it dosent click at all, when i finaly get the car running and switch the car off and hold the relay in my hand again it then clicks twice once to prime then once again b4 the car starts .
its seems like the relay isnt being told to turn on when i try and start the car when its cold till after a few atemps.

update.i found out that it's not sparking nor the injectors are opening,it will spark once then not at all then after a few atemps of cranking the engine over you here the injectors click and keep clicking and the car will fire up,is there another relay that could be at folt?
it would be easyer to find the folt if the car wouldnt start at all, this is doing me head in.
