Drifting at Central Day and in general!
What a pointless form of 'Motorsport' if it can be called that. I watched no more than 2 minutes and walked off!
Whats the point?

i went to watch ade from fast ford drift a couple of months back at teesside autodrome. first time ive ever watched drifting, and i quite enjoyed it. not the most exciting motorsport ive ever seen, but you have to appreciate the technical aspect of it, cant be easy.

LOL I knew someone would say that But really I dont have to, I dont appreciate the skill involved in Sychronised swimming and that's pointless too! I know everyone is into different things but I just don't get that drifting lark at all!

Disagree, it's more like the Redbull motorcross big air competitions, not about who is the fastest, but who has the best car control/ flair etc... Love watching the good drivers flicking effortlessly from lock to lock at 80mph, proper car control It probably stems from my love of rear wheel drive, I ought to get into it properly really as I think (not being big headed!) I would be pretty decent at it....

there both car control. controlling a quick car down the strip is more than holding the steering wheel straight and changing gear, just like drifting is more than buying a RWD car and going sideways. each to there own, i just appreciate the skill aspect, although as i said, i can appreciate why some find it boring.

you prob watched drifting for the first time in the most boring place in the world it is done. a big open space with cones, very mild cars and simple driving. like watching your first ever drag race being 2 mondeos in a field and then deciding its terrible.
some reasons why its cool:
great david versus goliath type drifting

old in car video

Fast Ford snapper
I've been involved with drifting (quite obsessively!) for the past couple of years and at the weekend had my Saph at Donnington for the Brittish Drift Championship. Totally messed up my first round big time (more to come in Fast Ford about that) but still had a great weekend.
The main thing that surprised me though was that spectating was actually a hell of a lot of fun! Watching the drivers first doing their judged qualifying runs and then the judged twinning battles was the perfect form of spectator motorsport to me. You can generally see the whole track from one spot. Mistakes and techniques are blatantly obvious to see, (and hear from the commentators) and way more entertaining than just seeing a car flying past on one corner with any mistakes or happenings being only evident if an overtake or crash happens.
I'm not going to get into a grip vs drift argument, as I believe they're both great in different ways, but competitive drifting in my opinion is miles more entertaining that regular motorsport for a spectator who's actually at the trackside.
