PMSL @ 'no mark' Celica...
I've owned 2 of these 'no mark' Celicas, one of which, I owned twice it was so good. They're absolutely fabulous, more robust and better built than an Impreza/Evo of the same period, transmission which will take an absolute battering (Fensport used standard GT4 transmission in their 200mph/10-second Corolla) and the engines are easy to get to c300bhp in the same way the Cosworth is.
Plus, if you get a late-spec version without the mental rear spoiler, they're actually reasonably anonymous too so you don't get much hassle from either tossers in blue or tossers in shitbox shopping cars wanting to race you.
Cheers,
Grant

Grant, have you had a escort cossie? If so what one would you have? To me i cant believe people had these! Probably a good car but the front puts me right off with them lights. I even saw one today when i was out.

Buy a good example and neither of these cars will lose you any money these days IMO. Doesn't matter if you spend 4k on a ST205 or spend 14k on an Escos, you'll get it back.
My choice would really depend on what I wanted from a car at the time.
If I wanted something that I could use 365days a year, would do high 12s/low 13s on the quarter mile and I could thump around Knockhill relentlessly and know it's not going to cause me any major issues then I'd go for a lightly modified Celica.
If I wanted a car that I could stick in my garage and look at through the winter and take out in the evenings and weekends when the weather was better.. would likely cause me grief (even just small niggly things) at some point, but would make my heart rate increase each time I looked at it, then I'd go for an Escort running Stage 3 power.
Cheers,
Grant

that must mean they were cheating fucking bastards then surely ? and if they never cheated the honest bunch at Ford they would of won i guess.
Its leaves a bad taste in the mouth like shit sushi when a World Wide company like Toyota cheats to win

It wasn't just cheating, it was an extremely well engineered piece of cheating.

just seems a bit odd praising a toy-ota on a ford forum
