Default What 4x4 to tow 3.5t

Hi been looking at discovery 2 since last year and haven't found what I want for my price range, and now i've started to go off them to be honest I've always preferred the p38 range rover but fed up of them all having the same prob's and didn't think there was any point getting another as I could get a worse one.

so what should I look at for £4k would like top spec and must tow 3.5 ton thats it,

Does such a vehicle exist? I'd be surprised if it does.

the land rovers have 3.5t tow limit.

others like l200's seem to be much lower unfortunately.

maybe a hilux surf? worth checking the tow limit on one of them.

i had a delica, which is a long wheel base shogun with a different body, and that was rated at 3.3 tonne towing, a 330/150 rac transit or 190/350 transit can tow 3.5 tonnes if empty and you keep your axle weights all ok, or go for an American pickup, most should be rated at that, even more so if you get a 3/4 or 1 tonne pickup,

You'll struggle to get a decent TD5 dII in your budget as you've found but the people i know that use them to tow, swear by them for towing. Most tow a challenge truck on a twin axle trailer with them.
You'll get a 96-98 cruiser within budget thats got to be the best choice imho. Only other options must be troopers or patrols, dirt cheap though you'd get a fourtrak to tow the weight but it misses the "top spec" part obviously

Disco all the way;

Yes i know either the one on the trailer is too far forward or the one in front needs a drop plate, and the trailer was hired at very short notice. Son only bought the 300tdi 3 weeks ago and the td5 on the trailer last Sunday, first time towing with it.
