Default Un-arming focus imobiliser help

Sorry to hijack the thread, I've got a 2002 Focus, which i bought and drove home, then swapped the buttons on the key fob as they were knackered and now i can't get the car to start. The fob will still open the doors/central locking but won't turn the car over.

The little light on the dash is flashing which i think indicates that the imobiliser is armed and i can't get it to disarm. I've got an electronic key and a standard key with a blue dot on it.

Does anyone have any ideas of what i need to do? I'd be willing to pay if anyones local to Blackpool to help get the car started.

Cheers

Mike

you need to pull out the transponder chip from original key and put it into the one your now using.its a cylinder type chip made of glass so be careful.
if u split the remote fob in two u will see the base of it which u can push very very gently out and put into the new one

I've actually put the thing back together as it was and it still doesn't work.

I did notice the glass transponder but there's no way to put it into the new fob??

you can push them out unless the new fob is from a different model.they may look the same but the make up inside maybe different

Hold the old key with the transponder against the ignition barrel while you turn the new key in the ignition.

I'm not sure on fords whether you can then put the old transponder key away from the barrel, you can on a Peugeot as I did when I broke a key in the barrel.

It might get you started for now.
