PassionFord Post Whore!!
ok my bora i aint bothered about.. my rs turbo is a zetec turbo proven 300plus bhp.. running a t4 turbo and hardly wheelspins mate [big turbo] so t888s [tryed and tested] doesnt wheelspin unless i rev it up very hard and lauch it.. not being funny but i aint ever come accross a integra that has even kept up with my rs turbo on a straight road.
off the line they might beat me IF i spin but i generally do beat them. maybe one day ill come across the right one and get my arse handed back to me i suppose...my car people estimate early 13s . i have run against 13 second cars and beaten them but at the pod i havent tryed and i know it aint as easy as it looks which is why i asked what i need to do to make sure i am in the 13s on central day

If its proven to be over 300bhp like you claim, and seeing as clearly with your ability to beat faster cars in slower ones you must be an awesome driver, then it should EASILY be WELL into the 12s and possibly even the 11s
I did 13.3 in a totally standard XE engined nova with a sniff of gas, with utterly no other modifications to it other than a basic suspension kit upgrade, there is utterly no way that an RS turbo with over 300bhp and driven by someone who can launch it should fail to take at least a second off that time.

Haha, I'd disagree with that.. you've been quite clear about how amazing you think your Bora is and how it wastes any VTEC-powered car without a K-series engine.
Fire up a graph of your car mate, be interesting to see what the curve looks like since it's running a T4.
Crail surface is crap, it isn't like Pod where it's properly looked after.. it's an old WW2 runway that get's swept with a brush if they remember and that's it, so it's very slippy off the line. They're not allowed to modify the surface in any way because it is a Scottish Heritage site.
Estimates are all fine and well, but you can't compare estimated times to proven times... plus for example an Impreza will only require 250ish bhp to be in the 13s on a drag strip. On the open road, while it's fast compared to normal cars, a that Impreza isn't actually that quick once rolling... I beat a c240bhp Impreza in my old RS Turbo when it was running 167bhp at the wheels, so circa 195bhp at flywheel.
Cheers,
Grant

just getting back to the thread (sort of)......................... chip ive been looking at the 5door civic vti's 1.8 is that the b18?? that you have been talking about,How easy /cheap to tune to ctr power figures?i say power figures not performance as i bet they weigh a lot more! then in future turbo charge mate

10K+ Poster!!
If you want some more inspiration with what can be done with a vtec, have a look at some of the civics in the states, they have some seriously rapid cars.

Cheers for the sensible inputs guys.
Tell ya mo rs.
See ya at pod ? See if a Vtec engine really is shit.
Standard lump, so 170 bhp. Running compression struts up front and some sticky 15s, with a 50 sniff of gas.
See if your '300 bhp t4 skimmed piston ofab running bodge has got the minerals.

Yes the Civic VTi is the 1.8 B18C4
There are a lot of subtle changes between that and the B18C5 found in the integra typre but the post noticeable are an increase in compression, a better exhaust manifold and a slightly hotter set of cams.
Just changing the exhaust manifold and the exhaust makes a big difference on its own though, especially if you remap it.
RickyLee53 is the one to ask though, his knowledge of these engines exceedes mine by about 1000% and he is the person I would be calling up myself to ask if I had a question on them!

My old '94 Civic did a 13,1 1/4 mile almost 10 years ago. 283bhp, normal 15" street tyres.
The way you're bragging you should easily beat that, so why dont you put your money where your mouth is and PROVE it
Slagging off the B18 and other great engineering features Honda has made shows you have no idea, they have won numerous awards for their engines and cars. The DC2 Integra Type R was awarded best fwd car by Evo magazine many years ago IIRC. Cant say that about your RS Turbo...
Here is a picture of the engine bay on my old Civic

thats what im saying chap.. these civics put the power down at the pod.. but on the roads it dont make a diffence when there cought rolling and get pissed on.. i got a 150bhp bora remapped to 190 ish bhp with just a exhaust its a tdi! and its quicker than a type r and all the slower civics vtecs[some are even modded] etc soo i dont need to be told that they are rapid because i know that they aint quick enough compared to a diesel!!!the ones that are like past 220bhp CANT BE compared to the bora! wont be fair would it! BASICALLY run 200bhp in a diesel and run 200bhp in a civic vtec and i would say once rolling the diesel will be quicker ..diesel meaning a fabia golf bora etc

I will second this. My old supervisor had a 5 door vti when it was only a year old and it was surprisingly quick. The first time I was in it I thought it just an old mans Honda till he gave it some thro 2nd 3rd 4th to the limited and I was well impressed. And to make you understand zippy b4 that I had e36 m3 but was banned at the time and that's why I was getting a lift. I had also had numerous rs turbos including a 220 bhp s1 and this was about 12 yrs ago so you must see why we are all just a wee bit sceptical about your claims. And I have driven pretty much every main stream car under the sun and some 100k plus motors so I no a nippy car when I'm in one.
Best thing you could do is get a video posted of you in the bora smoking these civics.

But as you keep going on about your fantastic remapped diesel Bora, try it against a BMW 120d/320d then for example, 177bhp standard, then remap it Thats just one example, there are plenty of others too, so just because you beat someone off the trafficlights doesnt mean your car is automatically the fastest in the world like you're suggesting...

interesting how the bora tdi leaves other cars for dust, even a remapped one.
i also have a remapped sport bora tdi and it is quick, but in comparrison to my former 1.8zvh it bloody well isn't, and certainly won't be quick against my new zetec turbo engine.
i wouldn't say my 170bhp bora diesel could beat a decent vtec powered car either, i'd put it down to the driver if i did though.
turbo's vtec would be awesome, seen a couple done and fooking shift!
not that's i'd go to all that work when a zetec turbo does so well anyways.

I read the dsport (http://www.dragsport.com/) magazine a few years ago, as I was pretty interested in those jap cars. And I have to say, I was really impressed what those guys achive with them vtec engines, n/a and turboed!
