Default Transit blocked cat

My 52 petrol LPG transit has a blocked cat and can't get up much speed. Can't afford a new cat so I'm thinking about hollowing out the cat so it at least looks like I have one. I don't want to cause any damage to the engine. Would the engine compensate by running hotter or leaner or richer? Would the unburnt petrol in the exhaust burn holes in it?

removing the centre of the cat will not damage the engine at all, you can drive it like that but it will fail come mot time
