Default Dont buy a private plate off these people

Right i'll try keep this rant short as its more just a word of warning to all you guys..

I purchased the numberplate F3 RAM off this company www.r4v.co.uk 5 and a half months ago, for the total of £1400. It took them 3 months of me nagging before they told me they cant get hold of the owner of the plate so will have to call it off and just give me money back.

2 months ago i finally recieved my V5 and MOT back, with a covernote saying i will recive my cheque from the accounts department shortly. This really took the piss and for the past month they either hang the phone up on me, or tell me the 'accounts department' will call me back tomorrow as they are busy and cant transfer me, I never get called back or have me emails replied too. If i kick off they just threaten to hang up, or do hang up.
Did some digging and it turns out the PO box address is actually covering the fact its a husband and wife that opperate out of their home in Leicester. There are no other departments.

Oh and today when i phoned, the director called Rakesh ( I know his voice) answered then told me Rakesh wasnt in and he was someone else. I give up now and am taking legal action through the small courts.

Just have to hope they dont go bust or anything before i see them in court to get my money back.

I always stick to my word and bend over backwards at work to meet customers demands. Just wish other companies were like that too

I even made the plates up at work and tried them on my car, theyre in the bin now

Fingers crossed for you that you get back what is yours

Certainly a warning worth taking notice of for anyone considering dealing with them.

If i ever buy a plate again i will only ever do so if the plate is already on retention and i can walk away with the paperwork there and then.

I would only ever buy a plate from DVLA or someone with all the paperwork to hand ect ect....

All these plate sites are a con.......Years ago i saw my old plate from my Cosworth up for sale...C20 WTH.......even though it was on my car sat in my garage............

I rang them up and they were ready to take a deposit on the plate.....then i said that i all ready own it and you have no right to be advertising it for sale.......They hung up......

It is like me advertising your car for sale........

as Tiff says, they advertise plates, then if they get a buyer, contact the seller to try and buy the plate for less than the buyer wants to pay.

Just watch they dont have 100 customers just like you then BUMP the firm goes tits up and the moniez is never returned.

A personal visit may come good, could end in disaster lol! depends how good you are at convincing them they a) should pay up and b) would be best not to call the police as they cant be around 24-7

Yep hopefully i wont learn the hard way.

Regarding the house visit, this should be an easy sue (as long as i act quick there should be no reason i wont be staring at him in court in 3 weeks) so no need.

I play by the books these days. I have a record for assualt, and also nearly lost my job a couple years ago for smashing my annoying back biting work collegues face into his keyboard (I left there shortly after lol). Off topic i know, but just an example of why im a lot more pacient and straight these days. I have a great job and more common sense, and would not jepordise that now. (although that didnt stop me ending up in the back of a police van after a night out with one of the watford boys off here a couple months ago, no names given )

Yeh i looked up the reg awhile ago and its sat on a fucking passat lol

I doubt anyone does anything for "Next to nothing"......

If you want it done on the cheap get a bit of white cardboard and a bit of yellow cardboard and go from there....

Otherwise get £20 out and get a set made up properly..........

did you pay on credit card for the plate? if you did, just phone your credit card provider and they will refund you then chase the company for their monies

Never buy a PP from anyone other than DVLA

I learned the hard way that until you have the plate actually fitted to your car the people who sold you the plate still own it , even if you can prove you paid them for it THEY OWN it untill its on your car

I had to threatern a bloke who sold me one of my rs500 plates , I honestly thought i was going to lose it until i name dropped a well know person in his area

DVLA are the only people i will ever deal with next time

Thats the problem with numberplates, your paying to wait for a bit of paper. I will only deal with DVLA or someone with paperwork ready i can walk away with now.

Ha should be no need. Its a simple case that will take minutes to sort in court. But it is handy to have their home address.
