more likely a burst air bag and or air leaks
air compressor wears out over working trying to pump up the planet due to the above

none of mine are on coils but I have heard this a few times before. never tried one myself though
apparently you must notify your insurance company if your car is on coils

while you're at it change it to a carburretor in case the fuel injection breaks and take the starter motor off and put on a crank handle. and change your wheels to solid wood in case the pnuematic tyres get a puncture.

doug you done check 1 yet
if pump isn't working leave it running and shut the door make sure all doors are registered as closed including the tail gate you can leave the bonnet open, the suspension should in theory now rise and the pump should operate
test one fills the air tank
next thrilling eas instalment will follow shortly lol

You can't buy a Rangey and put it on coils, it drives terrible. Sacrilege I tell ye, sacrilege. Its like a bald man saying that bald men are sexier, lies I tell you, lies.

Welcome to the P38 club, EAS faults, as Tony will agree it cheaper to fix the air suspension than convert it to coild but please dont take it to a Land Rover dealer they will want Ł100 to open the workshop doors, take it to a independent 4x4 dealers or someone with a lap top that will read the faults.

Have you got the "max 35 mph " ont the dash with that annoying "beeb beeb sound coming from the dash.

you need to clear the eas ecu the suspension will do nothing whilst it is displaying the hard fault 35 mph eas fault .The eas is in lock out mode
you need some eas software ,the software you can down load for free but you need the correctly configured obd2 cable

Doug I think you have been sold a sick puppy lol
when your pissing around for ages with it doug make sure the battery is not discharged the ecu's in the range rovers don't take kindly to low voltage and low current they begin to have a pmt moment .Range rovers are power hungry with all their electronics

Spray some soapy water on the bags and the pipes this will show any air leaks.

When you have replaced the air bags bags and tank will be empty, the compressor on a range rover is like a foot pump trying to inflate a tractor tyre, when you start the engine leave a door open this will stop the vehicle trying to pump up the bags and tank , it will just fill the tank, after about 5 or 10 minutes close the door ( leave a window open as when working on a range rover they have a habit of locking themselfs) it will then inflate the air bags.

As Tony has said a weak battery on a P38 can throw up a few problems so make sure you have 100 % good battery.

As for the vehicle locking itself it only does it if you messing with electrics like changing the battery but i dont take any risks, i never close the door if i dont have a open window of keys in my pocket, dont give up fixing the air suspension as its not that bad and there are a few owners websites that will give you lots of help, once you have a fault free car nothing can match it for comfort.

Doug its only a suspensoin fault you have and it could be a very cheap fault, you have what is called a hard fault, its on its bump stops and displaying a message on your display, get the fault read then you know what to fix, you will then have to have the fault cleared then she will pump up the suspension and away you go
