If you're after a maintained lease (the only one to have really - why would you want to pay to maintain someone elses vehicle, which you're already paying to use?) then stick to big companies - Camden, Lloyds Autolease, Lex (part of lloyds) - BUT CHECK THE TERMS. We had a van that we could only have tyres changed at a 'National' - not very convenient when it has to be serviced at the dealer and you don't want the van out of action for two days.

D40 Navaras are unreliable heaps o'shite. Lots of annoying things going wrong on mine. And its getting more frequent the more miles its done.

Hilux is by far the best bet, although a lot of people rate the izuzu.

I have an 07 l200.Done just shy of 90k in it including quite a bit of off road work and only things its needed bar servicing & tyres were centre carrier on the prop,a universal joint,a new set of rear springs & an airbag sensor.Cant complain really as it has a pretty hard life.

Cheers Ross.

Dave ive got a 54 reg l200, done loads of miles for work/play.
Its a good work van and copes well as a personal vehicle.
Its been totally reliable, only ever needed servicing in 45k. Had it from new to.
The only bad things are, mpg not great, turning circle is horrendous, rear suspension is a little harsh when empty but with some weight is ok, rear seats dont have much room.
I like mine.

And arent l200s the only ones you can get all the tax/vat back on because they can take the full 1 tonne payload.

If u wanna take mine for a spin gimme a shout.

I just don't get the interest in these things...

Just get a decent van - after 6months of having no-where to put shit you will wish you did anyway lol.

Very few lessors will allow tyres to be changed at a dealer due to the higher costs normally involved. It's unusual to be limited to a single tyre-chain, though they WILL "encourage" you to go to a particular outlet so they can maximise volume discounts, but most do mobile fitting nowadays so no reason for you to be inconvenienced.

A bigger issue is likely to be getting the funding in the first place. No-one is rushing to lend to a new-start so expect to put up sizeabale deposits/advance rentals (and, if you are going to be a Limited Company, a personal guarantee).

10000% correct.

Uncle runs a Handyman business.... and said exactly the same. Transit van or a connect size thing is FAR FAR FAR better for business use.

Ranger only gets used to tow my Trailer. Otherwise its useless!

Decent Van is much better to drive and a far more useful too.

These pick ups all have a floaty back end IME.

Latest generation Transit is one of the nicest vehicles to drive full stop at a "crusing" speed I reckon or if a Connect is big enough for you it's just like driving any small TD car really. Although the 104ps VW Caddy is pretty rapid for a van with a re-map!

Advantage of a pickup(with a hardtop) is family/kids in the front and smelly dogs in the back. Also a tax dodgers family car.
