P1211 - 2001 Mondeo 2.0 tdci 130
Hi all,
I have a 51 plate ford mondeo estate 2.0 TDCI 130bhp. Whilst driving back from mbirmingham a wek ago the car lost power and ground to a halt. I then noticed the glow plugs were flashing. It started straight after but only went a few yards before halting again. The car then would not start and i needed recovering.
I got a mobile diagnostic on the car and the mechanic, although very nice, went from the car needingnew engine, to new injectors, to a new injection pressure control sensor in the space of half hour.
After he got the car running for a while the only code on his diag was the P1211 code and only that. He suggest i change the fuel rail as thats were its located? I have this part arriving soon but reaing different forums its difficult to know whats wrong with the car.
Any guys on here with any experiance or ideas on this issue? I'd be very greatful as i can see the money spirreling on this fault and I really dont have the money for that.
Many Thanks

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
my first call would be to leak off test the injectors, recode the injectors, and also drain the filter and look for swarf incase the pumps breaking up and killing the injectors

Thanks for the swift response, I was reading a little on the codes and i see the injectors have their own fault codes? Wouldnt they flash if it was them? Again im a complete novice but i dont mind getting my hands dirty to save a little money. I have seen a local company recondition injectors for £300, is that possible?

its down to pressure, if the injectors block can cause that code followed by p2051 i think or close to that lol, if there leaking off too much drop in pressure causes the code, etc etc etc, its common for injectors to fail,. if one or more has failed you must check the fuel system for swarf as you would then need new pump injecor/s and a full system clean out inc drop tank
ive got a 05 x-type on my driveway (same engine) pumps failed filled fuel pipes etc with swarf and fooked injectors.
hence i said leak off to test the injectors, then recode to check they have not lost code, then fuel to see if the pumps caused the problems.

One thing i forgot to mention was that whilst the engine was trying to start the mechanic showed me the injection pressure on his diag and it was going from 3200 to 2500 and ranging up and down between the two. Also when the engine was running there was a lot of Diesel Knocking? Sounded like the engine was gonna blow up! Same outcome with that info?
