Fancy a 1.5mile race.
I dont think theirs much channce of the mags holding a Daddy Thrash or such events again (PF no longer even list their data) so if you want a bash at Topspeed or a race against your mate why not enter Vmax. You can enter over on Pistonheads in the Vmax section.
Cars are raced 2 at a time so a good chance to have a bash against some exotic stuff over 1.5miles. Lots of 400bhp Cossies on here that claim to be fast so why not give it a go against a 599 Ferrari or an AMG.
Its £140 but as many runs as you can manage (approx 8 possible) so good value for money.
Ive not discussed having another bash with Mark yet
so im not sure if i will be an entrant but it would be good to see some Fords there.
Speeds vary from 140mph to 223mph in the 1.5miles so you wont be out of place.

Be interesting to see some of the boys on here that go spastic over figures turning up to this.

Steve, if yours is a genuine 480bhp car with similar torque then i'd want to see more than 160+ mate, surely it'd pull into the 170s??
Mike did 173 iirc on a T34 car....
I think mine being 355/360 would do low 155-160??

I'd like to see a few cars on here go in for this, but realistically, living in Scotland.. there's little chance I'd be able to attend. Hmmmm, if only there was someone on this forum who is known to get a snap happy and post all his pics on here.........

Be optomistic mate, I know 155 is 155, but at least call it a
high 155 .

Grant

Vmax is a great event, no winners just car against the clock or a grudge match with a mate.
To give you some idea of performance/power.
400bhp- 168/170mph
450bhp- 175/177mph
500bhp- 180/182mph
But it wont lie lads if you aint got the Power you claim your porkies will be exposed.
Even a 400bhp Cosworth will be OK & run with say a 360 Ferrari they are crap at this struggling to reach 170mph.

I'd love to have a go but my car would be on the limiter long before the 1.5 miles so no point really

Ade Young achieved 185.5mph with 530bhp.
I would forget what the Dyno said its what you have in the car after 1.5miles of 100% throttle that counts
.

On 4star with 370ish bhp, so on your green engines now no more than 160 still not bad though! Plus dont forget the Gay factor of Rainbird he gets special treatment from your pops!

I think Mike had a diff ratio around 3.3, not sure but seem to remember something being said about it.

Maybe 3.38:1, I'm not into top speed so much and going to need to use a 3.9 due to larger diameter wheels/tyres.
Thanks for reply.

Ade is awaiting testing on the latest Borg Warner to push his Power up a bit. He will be knocking on the door of 200mph.

Diff is only the starting point. Heres an idea of what wheel size can do.
This on mine .83-5th & 3.54 diff.
Tyre 205/40/16 = 22.71mph/1000 8.4k = 190.8mph
Tyre 235/40/17 = 24.68mph/1000 8.4k = 207.3mph
Tyre 235/40/18 = 25.69mph/1000 8.4k = 215.8mph
Tyre 225/40/19 = 26.38mph/1000 8.4k = 221.6mph
If i was running the 1k at totb with 900bhp the 16's set would be my starter with 900bhp over 1.5miles the 18's would be the starting point.

Are you saying Harveys greens only produce 310bhp cos that will pull 160mph at Brunters correctly geared. Still thats more than your pile of poo will ever do Phil never heard a guy so full of bullshite as yourself.

I assume there is a about .3 miles to stop if its a 1.5 mile trap distance? (IIRC most uk runways used for this sort of thing are about 1.8 miles)
If so, then people will certainly need good brakes to be getting rid of 190mph+ in that distance

If they are then they need to update their FAQ section as it doesnt mention anything about it.
