Ford Focus 1.8 Tuning Ideas Needed!!
Right i have a Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec MK1 (2000), currently has 4-1 full decat stainless exhaust system, motorsport ht leads and plugs, and induction kit with cold air feed. I am about to come into some spare money, between £500-£800 and want to do something specail to my car before i get it REMAPPED in May.
I'm thinking cams and possibly inlet manifold to give me a lot more lower end power/torque, but not sure what to go for.
All ideas welcome but dont say something stupid like Turbo or Supercharger as if i could afford that, i would :P
If you have any ideas that would help my Focus be a wolf in sheeps clothing so to speak, FIRE AWAY

tbh mate £800 wont get you a lot from a naturally aspirated car especially a 1.8 focus, i would spend the money on perhaps brakes or suspension allowing you to carry the speed you have further into the corners, unfortunatley na cars cost a lot to tune, for £800 i doubt you would even get a decent manifold giving you 10-15 bhp tops wheras on an allready turbo car 5-600 quid would get you a 100bhp+ increase!
forced induction is the way mate!!

I do have a decent manifold at the moment, but i need something to help keep up with type rs as 3 of my mates have them lol.
Whats your thoughts on this JDM Zetec Turbo Kit then, if its what he says it is, £600 is bargin!

£600 in my eyes sounds almost too cheap as you would pay that for a decent low grade turbo, but as i know little about this kit you mention i cant comment factually, for that sort of money i cant see you putting low compression pistons in as that would be around that money or less alone and this is the only way of running decent boost.
you could get away with low boost on a standard engine but as for power output and longevity of the engine i wouldnt like to comment as i would think both figures would be quite low.
if you were to look into info on this site and others i would have thought doing all the work yourself for around £1500-£2000 it would be possible to get exhaust manifold, turbo, pistons, and cams plus management with correct buying of good nearly new or second hand parts that 250-300bhp MAX was possible

If you think about it once you have the major parts installed like cooling system, manifold etc etc, then I could do the bigger upgrades bit by bit, like as you mensioned pistons, higher compression and better turbo.
I think if everything is as ive read, then its a good starting point for me going into Turbos, then can upgrade from there.
Again i 100% understand what your saying, but can you understand what i mean?
Thanks again btw
