Saab 2.0 turbo is even more along those lines, basically a 600bhp engine with a 280bhp turbo

Vigge on the saab forums has 660bhp on the standard internals, the only changes he made were:
cams
valve springs (80 quid a set volvo ones, lol)
injectors
manifolds
mapping/management

(I guess some people would call cams and springs internals, but I dont personally as you can change them without needing to open the engine itself up, ie not undoing the headbolts)

Chip, your a Vauxhall guru.
Is the following possible.
Was chasing Russ in his 500bhp Volvo in my 1.8 Vectra of course he was disappearing quicker than my hair but i just held the old foot down to see what it would do. The gps showed a staggering 118mph since then ive considered gps to be inaccurate as surely a 1.8 Vectra cant do that .

I reckon you should have gone for one of these saab engines chip (well technically a volvo licensed copy of a pratt and whitney engine):

you can even get a service manual so im sure you could have a tweak and a bit of a remap:

LOL

Yes mate very possible, 118mph in a relatively aerodynamic car like that doesnt take very much over 100bhp

Out of interest, if you wanted to go to an airfield etc to do a topspeed run or even on a track and guage what your highest speed is..

What equipment is used to clock speed which would be accepted as " offical topspeed"?

Fast ford use official Datron timing gear IIRC

Performance ford use a drift box, which sounds pikey but TBH it still works well.

Anything running a 5hz or better GPS receiver like most automotive targetted dataloggers do anyway should be safe to trust IMHO its not like we need to know the fifteenth decimal place, lol

im more than awear others tune other makes lol as im very much into all cars! and as said if u read all my posts im not saying its not possable just that its more likely that the cos dident have the power u think as 400bhp (genuine) 1.8 20v turbo skodas are very few and far between as its a fair bit of work! still a fair comment in my view and its only a comment! and as cossies are more about in gear and top end on the move power id be even more likely to question it lol

Well all I can say is go on briskoda.net the later vrs's had 200bhp standard the early ones 180 now there is a few members on there running over 500bhp but according to most that tune these cars 350 to 400 bhp is easy so it's totally possible the car I saw that night was running that kind of power mind you if I see it again I'll be sure to stop it and ask the owner what it's had done it

121mph (scangauge and shat nav) in the zs, down a slight hill, then I bottled it (all private ofcourse)
Fuck knows in my cousins porsche, I looked at the speedo and we were doing over a ton, then he booted it and I didn't think to look. Pulled well though.

152mph in the standard sapphire... Eventually, and 170+mph on the GSXR both speedo indicated. And I've done just 130mph in my latest sapphire as I've found something more fun than straightline speed
