I'm in the process of replacing my wheels on the S4 and wanted to go for a 9.5x19" with 235/35/19 tyres all round, however about 70% of the alloy wheel firms i have spoken to advise to go for 8.5" with the same tyres?

They are claiming they drive awful with 9.5" wide wheels? Could this be true, even if the tyres on both are the same size or are they just saying this as the 8.5's are easier to source? Its only an inch after all?!!!

No they're telling the truth, a 8J or 8.5J is much more like it for the size 235.

a 235 on a 9.5 will be stretched, mine sit flush on a 9 inch wheel

 

yet ive got 225 40 18 on a 9" wheel and its not that strecthed, it all depends on the make of the tyre imo

 

9" is only 8j all ways knock a 1" off for hub width

 

The rears on mine are 9.5 inch wide with a 265 wide tyre which look right, 235's will look pretty stretched
