It drives ok tho? The oil/water hasnt mixed? Just runs a bit hot, and only makes that ticking when its warmed up? Gave it a good boot down the 45 into leam last night and when i got to maccies for a drink it was fluttering like a bastard when you rev it, sounds like exhaust is blowing at the manifold?

Jst when its hot hot, it goes ticky ticky from like idling speed up to 3000 revs.. ?
We checked it when it was hot and cold aswell.. only a minimal difference. Well i wasnt there but my mate said its fine?/

im forever getting lambasted for telling people to fit the metal impellar jag pump ste, as it 'was only mk1's' that snapped the impellar apparently. i know ford did uprate the plastic in MK2's, but personally, i dont care what people say, both my V6's, this one, and my MK3, had a metal impellar jag pump fitted, and a brand new ford belt, the week i got them. prevention, is better than cure.

Its just upto 3k, sounds like drivers side of the engine? just going diesel next, getting too old to be crawling around under fucked old cars... should have seen me about an hour ago quickly touching up the rear arches on the other one with a rattle can before the new owner collected it

Highly likely it's either that or the exhaust manifold gasket. Both are a pig to do.

I've got a 2.5 ghia x as my runabout and this developed the tick a couple of months after I bought it.
Did all my underbonnet checks the other day and noticed the header tank level was low, took the cap off and loads of pressure still in there (the car hadn't been used for 3 days) and it smelt of exhaust gas!
It's had an oil leak between the rear head and block for a while so it's just progressively got worse and the car has never overheated at all (I've serviced the car every year since it was 2 years old and the water pump has been changed to the metal impeller type).
I'm just gonna use it until it packs up, it doesn't overheat at all. Threw some K seal in for good measure too!!
