its a sept 1999 530d se
4 owners iirc

You'd probably get offered somewhere around the £2k mark considering its a nice example? Books at less.

If it's against a MK2 FRS then I'd expect them to be reasonably harsh on the trade in price, if it's against something which nobody wants then they should have a fair amount of margin in the car you're looking at to make you think you're getting a great price for your px.

I'd expect to see it around 3k as a private sale to be honest.

Cheers,
Grant

Think I will have to try and sell the bm private then as its to much car to let go for £2k if I can get them up a bit or down abit on the focus then I will let them have it

What sort of cash were you expecting to be offered as a trade in mate? If you can go to a dealer with a bag of cash/no px then I'm sure they will be able to do deals... plus with no px then it's far less hassle to organise a deal with another dealer.

my cousin bought a 530 diseasal with 160k on the clock the other week for a grand on a 2000 w plate, it was up for £1250 so perhaps you are thinking they are worth more than that?

yours is a much nice example mind

a grand is very cheap mate I would rather break it than let it got for that sort of cash ( paid £4k for it a few months ago and have spent prob £2k on it )

The £2k PX value seems reasonable. What were you expecting out of interest? £3k? It may very well sell for close to £3k private as it does look like a nice car.

If they want £25k for it, that would be £23k and your car. I would expect to get a £25k car for £24k with no PX at least.

That said, if a dealer said to me that 'they dont do deals', then id tell them where to go and buy another. Theres plenty of MK2 Focus RS's about at the moment, and id put money on another dealer giving you £3k in PX for yours.

ALL garages will do deals. Just sounds to me like they really didn't want the car, not something they would have on their forecourt and just a hassle putting it through the auctions etc. £2k seems on the low side of a fair price for it imo. I guess you could always sell bits off it first like the sport bumpers and alloys etc.

Matt,

I'm not far from you and know the area and market pretty well. I'd put it on Autotrader 2995 and the pol's will be all over it. Would expect that sold within a week.

you listed all the mods you'd done to it within about 40 seconds of it appearing on your driveway mate

get it onto pistonheads or the like and put up a price you are willing ot let it go for

2k is bang on average money for that, then the dealer has auction fee's on top of that,2k is a fair shout.
