Default Thinking about a civic type R - knowledge appreciated

Guys can you give me some tips on what to look out for on buying one of these, any common problems?
It would be the 2001(around that time) onwards shape, and one at the cheap end of the scale, £4500 > so likely to have higher miles but wouldent buy anything over 100k as not so easy to sell back on...

Cheers lads

I would really drive one first, i know a lot of people like them and i used to be a massive honda fan. I had a ek and ep shape civic (the one you want and the one before) and after a short amount of time i found them really boring and uncomfy....

Driven a couple of them when they were new. . .

Prefer the facelifted old shaped Type R's though.

Can't help you with common faults sorry

Great engines but the problem is that cause they are quite heavy cars they feel really slow till you get to vtec.

Decent exhaust manifold and system and a remap releases far more power than you would expect from an N/A car, like about 15% extra!
