can you not just get the arches pulled out a bit at a bodyshop? i remember seeing this done on a focus thread on either here or rsoc years ago he gained nearly two inch just dollying and rolling the entire arch out.
its quite a popular mod abroad to clear big wheels

Ask Dunccoss to measure using the diagram I put up.

After that measure your brake bell thickness to determain if it different.

Are your wheels deffo 9 inch wide as it is from where the tyre bead sits is to determain the wheel width

As above, to measure offset, put wheel on a flat surface, measure the distance between the ground and the mounting face of the wheel, subtract this number from half the width of the wheel. (all measurements in mm).

Deffo wrong offset if you're comparing with Dunc's or even the German Focus. Does it say ET35 on the inside of the wheel or anywhere else? Can't believe they'd make such a cock up and send the wrong set.

they have labels on them all with the size offset and stud pattern etc, dunc said on rsoc that they should be fine once tyre on and car on the ground.

I wouldn't, very risky that. Especially with the rears not sitting correctly up in the air, in theory it should sit the same as the front. What if you chip them when putting tyres on? The front will deffo be the same when its on the ground, they stick out a good 10mm and the rears you'll need spacers to make them look anything like that German one.

Have you placed it on the ground and measured the offset?

it would be worth fitting the tyres and dropping it on floor.

if theyve machined them wrong then regardless of wether youve fitted tyres, you are entitled to a refund/repair/replacement under your statutory rights.

After all, most people dont check the rims without tyres on the car and to be fair you cant be sure until suspension is normal height.

at least the ET is too low. easy fix to machine off more.

You dont need to fit the tyres, If you place a jack under the lower arms as far out towards the hub as possible you should be able to get the full weight onto the suspension which will show you where the rims will sit under normal conditions.

looking at the pics, i woul dtend to agree, once you put weight on the front, the wheels will push in at the top due to the suspension set up

pumaspeed do a rear axle widening kit rather than cheap spacers....

but as above you need the fronts machining to change the et... speak to touring car spares as they deal in them wheels and might be able to help

Had a look at your pics and you have exactly what I'd expect with a 9" ET35 wheel on a FRS. On a FRS the original wheel is an 8" ET42, I have supplied ET35 for a better look BUT that's on an 8" rim. By going ET35 on a 9" rim you add 1/2 inch more on each side compared with the 8" rim of the same offset. Your new wheels sit 20mm further outwards than the OE wheels, I think you either need to sell them on or flare your arch with an arch roller.

The standard wheel is 8x18 ET42, so a 9x18 ET35 has 6mm less inner clearance and protrudes 20mm further than a standard item.....

If you think it is the bell causing the problem, measure the thickness compared to a standard disc to see if this is pushing the wheel out further?

See the picture already posted on this thread (post 38) .

The only other thing I can suggest is to meet up with Duncan and compare wheels (or persuade him to take a photo of his with it jacked up like yours to see if the droop is causing some of the problem).

I know that when we tried an ET15 Monte wheel on Kelvs car it was so far out of the arch it looked stupid, so my comments are based on that really. Obviously an ET15 would (should) protrude 7mm more than your ET35 9" but it looked a lot more than 7mm as I recall. What is the measurement from the hub face to the back rim of the wheel?

Its not going to be a problem with the bell, simple as. Its the offset on the wheel you need to determin, plenty of easy way to measure it. But its clearly wrong.

The German focus has a few trick details surrounding the suspension, and from what I remember also have spacers on the rear.
