New kid looking at mk1 RS
im looking at getting one of these when my car sells, if it doesnt sell ill part ex it against one. (2005 vauxhall corsa)
Im starting to research the car and am just wondering whats the basic info i should know. What worth while mods can be done and are there any faults i should look out for?
my plan is to buy one and use it as a fun/track car as i have a works van.
Thanks

they are stunning looking cars. always like them. they are sporty and aggressive looking but yet subtle unlike the new RS focus. thats too in your face for me

unless it purely a looks thing consider a focus st as well, much more refined experience. I'd recommend you go and test drive an FRS before you decide its for you

Thanks for the advice, i will test drive first.
i will never consider a focus ST because i dont like the look of the mk1 appart from the RS.
Plus im after a fun/track car as stated in my original post so i dont want a refined car.
The RS isnt the only car im considering im just researching a few cars while i try to sell mine.

As for mk1 FRS, ive got one. Fantastic car, but I didnt like it first time I drove it.lol
As for things to look out for;
paintwork is thin, so prone to stonechips, gravel rash in all the usual places
check the condition of the interior,seats-stitched bases or not. check the mats and pedals - as these look tatty quick and are a fortune to replace.
chargecooler pumps are prone to failure, as are the bushes holding the chargecooler in the bay.
coolant leaks-from thermostat and pipe in the wheelarch
Try and get a well looked after one, but dont get stung buy loving owners inflated prices.

is high milage something to look out for on these?? or is it a case of if its looked after it will be fine. Cause atm im been looking for cars that are below 50k miles.
what should i expect to pay for a good one?

ive had about 25 rs's over the yrs and the one that stands out as the most fun is my old 288bhp 314lbs frs mk1 it was brilliant fun to drive at speed and kept me happy on the comute to work everyday....
for me it was more fun than my st focus but the st was nicer on a long run...
but id have a frs over a cossie anyday

yeah ive heard nothing but good reviews about them. basically a track car for the road. Just what i want really.
I like the mk2 but they are abit too in your face for me, but still a stunning looking car and a brilliantly enginered machine!

Awesome cars, i replaced my 250bhp rs turbo with one last year and should have done it a LOT sooner.....imo a modern day rs turbo but with everything about it being better lol, handling is brilliant for a fwd car
With basic mods they go pretty well : Remap/exhaust+decat/induction kit (260-270bhp) and then chuck on a manifold and up the boost to 22psi and you'll be up round 300bhp.
A good one with the basic mods already done with lowish miles should set you back 9-10k, for the money there's nothing i'd rather have
