I could imagine it would involve quite a lot of work. Just googled some sites and there are kits out there, but they ain't cheap.

ive turboed several things like this before. Can you weld, solder, read electrical drawngs, do mechanicals, understand engine management and map cars? all these things will help, making a manifold is the trickiest bit, and wiring up an aftermarket ecu and mapping it can be testing, would be a good project though.

i see, a 3 litre straight six is quite responsive anyway lol, adding a turbo just adds to the responsivness. im not into the whole "crying baby noise under the bonnet" love the whooshing hissing of turbos though, how do you go about sizing the supercgarger when doing your conversions?

space is a massive problem on the rhd e36,you can fit a supercharger on the inlet side of the engine far easier than messing about squeezing a turbo in around the steering column.

When i turboed my 318 is E30 i put the turbo almosy on the rocker cover on the exhaust side, and flipped the manifold to feed it, anything is posible, just cant help thinkng that a 3 litre with super charger will be wank on fuel, but witha turbo it will at least be ok when your cruising around

6 pot is a lot bigger than 4 pot and the e30 has a bigger bay,it can be done, but theres no kits and its a lot more hassle thats all

i see,its longer, not wider, i dont see it as hassle, but as a hobby TBH, i quite enjoy manufacturing all the components involved in a turbo conversion, thats what makes it different i suppose

Std compression, inverted and modified std tubular stainless manifold, t25 flange welded on, 28 turbo, custom down pipe, frontera tdi intercooler, custom boost pipes, fifth injector setup, oil return into the rocker cover! was ok, but prehaps not the best turbo conversion ive done.

i had a bmw e30 325i and turbo'ed that it cost me 4k all in done a lot of the work myself. the biggiest cost is the manegment system, loom setting it up. job for the pro's i got s*it load of pics and full spec some where il try and dig it out for for it will give a ruff guide.
but it may cost loads to do but at the end you got some STUIPED POWER PURE TARMAC CHEWER

JBS will make you a proper custom manifold. Expensive though.

Better off building your own kit, you will need to anyway as its RHD.

IF and its a big if i ever went down the fi route i would be using the m20b25 just to make life simpler, heard the internals can handle a good bit of boost.
