I need a 'box for my 2000 (V) 2.0 and wondered if a 1.8 'box would fit from a Mk1 or Mk2. Are there any differences beteween the 1.8 and 2.0 Zetec gearboxes? Also any differences between Mk1 and Mk2 gearboxes? I've heard there are 2 different linkage types on the 2.0 'box, is this correct? Any help appreciated, cheers.

 

not sure about mk1 / mk2 gearbox differences but the 1.8 'box will not fit your 2.0 without a fair amount of work. The 1.8 has an ib5 'box and the 2.0 got the mtx75. As far as I know the gear change cables are different and the shafts are different so you'd need those too

As said 1.8 uses IB5 and 2 litre uses MTX75, different box and I believe the mounts are different as well. Not straight forward. The MTX box is far superior to the IB5 box so not only would it be ball ache it would be a step backwards
