It would be recommended mate - Mod X is designed for full mods (stage 3)
What you use your ST for? Mine is mainly track and occasional fun use then parked up rest of time

PassionFord Post Whore!!
280+hp is fine, most of the block cracking is done to mapping, a liner upgrade can be done after it cracks so not much of a problem.

cheers mark this is what i thought.
which is why i don't fancy mod x at all (it scares me) and why I am not a fan of the handsets unlike everyone else on stoc forum.
Was that one you had done yourself? I did not know you done anything with STs atall.
I had heard of the liner upgrade but everyone on the stoc again just says not possible because walls are to thin.
Have you dealt with any liner issues atall?
What mods did the 284bhp one have and was that at the wheels.

Mod X has been along time in development - I know Jared and Carl well who run Dreamscience and the results on this map have been outstanding.
You can get it on handset, go to Dreamscience for a one shot tune or do it through laptop. Similar to bluefin, codered, etc.
Honestly mate if you want a reliable 300bhp you want Dreamscience in your life lol
Shame you werent closer and could let you have a spin in the ST

Not tested a Mod X but the Mod C's I have seen have had dett,
This is my own car with my map a spec r intercooler and sports cat'ed magnex exhaust,
Yes we have done some work with liners on a 2.3 and have worked very well,
I have done work on them but been lazy on letting people know, Starting to sort the RS also now.

Cheers Robbie yeah unfortunately not closer as I would have taken you up on that...
But unfortunately Im gonna stay away from dreamscience to be honest mate, I know everyone raves about it all but the fact that it seems a lot of the liner issues are on handset equipped cars and the fact that their induction kit seems to work its way loose and rub on bodywork etc etc kind of puts me off.
Im not saying anything about their knowledge or customer service but a few things have just put me off thats all.
I know im the minority and your car performs really well and so do many others on ds stuff but it seems jamsport are doing really good things with the RS and that should definitely give them an advantage with the ST.

Pity I didn't know you worked on these as I would have given you a call and seen what you can do but im all booked up now.
Do you think the ST will become more of modded car now the RS is here and being modified then?
Do you think good power is achievable without the liner issue arising or only after that liner issue is sorted.

They should be ok but cant tell you where the limit is,
They are a modded car a lots are being done, but I have been lazy doing them, I have owned mine for 3 years now.

Yes the liners can crack on standard cars, these seemed to be on 57 plate cars - Poss bad batch of engines. I had mine at 300bhp on the code:red maps and 4 years 50k not a single problem.
It would appear that people are pushing the limits even more now as the ST gets older, A very good mate of mine has his 2006 car running Jamsports stage 4 package...
Power is expected to be about 370 Jamie did map the car and its very smooth unlike
other maps that are quite aggressive from the off.
Will it Crack a liner? .. hmmm not to sure, its early days and the second one I know of that has been done by Jamsport and so far so good, He loves it I have yet to have a go.
With all the RS engines on ebay, it may be cheaper to get one of those and drop it into the ST unless you have the post 2008 cars that seem to be running the same blocks as the RS.

the 370 bhp RS conversion is mine
and no problems at all.
its mapped and fueled correctly, with a RS hybrid turbo, amongst many other mods.
any questions, feel free to ask

Performance wise....................
Magnex downpipe.
Magnex decat
Piper cat back
CodeRed CAIS with K&N filter
RS mk2 Airtec intercooler ( with ram scoops )
bottom boost pipe larger bore ( made by Jamsport )
RS plugs
Jamsport custom remap
RS mk2 hybrid turbo
Collins DV
RS mk2 clutch
Quaiffe diff.
all standard pipes replaced with Roose silicon hoses.
and all work done by Jamsport.
Sitech inlet, Wiseco pistons and rods, different plugs to come soon.

if your going to do it then do it properley....
dont buy a plug in hand set as every car is different and it will NOT be perfect, ive had my old fiesta st and mk1 frs with these plug in dreamscience things and they have been shit, you need a properly made remap to the car to make the best of everything....
its proberley why they go wrong and liners go because the maps are crap

For a genuine 290bhp (would be well over 300bhp on a DD dyno in SHOOT_6F)...
Mountune MP260, add the downpipe and sportscat, and the new cast inlet and you'll be looking at 290bhp and around 440-450Nm.
If I had the money myself it would be my own choice for the daily drive at the moment...
Failing that it wouldn't be one of the handsets that's for sure - I'd rather go and see someone like Mark with a history of knowing their apples from oranges!

For starter dreamscience is shite, wouldn't touch it. Yes they get high figures but loads of people have problems and it's just a generic map that doesn't account for additional hardware upgrades that can make the car run rich! STAY AWAY
And as for the 400bhp. I think it's going to make the car undriveable. And by that I mean asking 400bhp of a FWD is corrupting it really 330bhp wouldn't be too bad. Rather than spending out on just the engine I'd look at some more handling upgrades which would make you faster than just a 400bhp standard ST.
Have you looked at uprated springs/coilovers, uprated bushes, thicker anti roll bar, better brakes, good tyres, lighter wheels.
Think you can make the ST a really capable car. More so than all this cosworth scrap it's just spending the money in the right places!

IThanks Drunken master nice to hear more people with my theories on dreamscience handsets.
Yes ive looked at handling upgrades which I will start doing at the same time once i get to 300+
I dont think brakes are too much of an issue on Sts as a lot of people say they are quite capable but ill look into them anyway.
Quaife diff and rs clutch kit will have to come before turbo upgrade i think so ill be getting them done as soon as i can!

frs liners are much thicker, the st ones are quite thin in comparrison, and even frs liners have been known to crack. There is a thread on here (been locked off halfway through ) about someone tuning a volvo t5r to 500 bhp, it cracked liners, and he replaced them with some chunky overlapping ones, good read.
Depends what you call high power i split the unbrakeable 2.3 liner at 591 hp and 524 ftlbs

also there is a full mk2 frs running gear for Ł1799ono which as you know with the right bits added can pull 440bhp as my mate has done.
it comes with the full engine and ancilerys gear box and clutch/flywheel/ turbo and hoses.... just check how much they want for the engine loom/ecus and clocks and keys

I tend to agree about dreamscience, their induction kit is rediculously over priced, rubs on everything and the mounting brackets always come loose. The way they mount the ECU too is laughable. I bought the RS ecu box for mine and it is much better, thinking about dumping the induction kit soom as am a bit fed up with it.
I've got their Race+ map on mine at the mo though and have had no problems in over a year.
Will the car need the map altering if I were to fit the RS injectors?
Love the ST as an overall package though, for the money they are these days there is little out there that can do better IMO!

Rich, do you have a pic of the RS ecu box? Is it a simple swap?
When I first put my dream science on I developed a misfire. RS plugs have cured it. RR next month so see whats what.

Stu77 car just made 382bhp / 402 lbsft at the rolling road day, the car drives extremely well not aggressive when you are driving around town, Very impressed.
This was at Jamsport, other cars made good numbers as well.
