Default any of you lot own a c-max? what are they like? *EDIT* bought one

seriously considering a c-max as a family car now, been looking at the 07 plate face lifts.

can get a 1.6 tdci for about 6-7k £30 a year tax and good mpg.

but for 5-6k i can get a 1.6/1.8 petrol with 20k miles. £180 a year tax and mpg is less than the diesel.

we only do about 7k a year in the family car so im undecided as wether to go for the petrol, or oil burner.

do any of you lot own/run one and what are they like on fuel petrol/derv

cheers all.

We used to make a lot of parts for the c max in the Swansea plant and they were deemed to be of a higher quality than the standard focus.my mate had one from new with no issues at all.
The only thing that bugs me about them is that I don't see the point of them, their not a seven seater, not really big inside, the boots not too big either,I'd say overall their no bigger or better than a focus estate but as a car you'll have no bother with it.

The misses has got a 2007 1.6 c-max zetec and she loves it. Says its the best car shes ever had. She normally changes her car every 3 months but has had the c max for nearly 12mnths. She test drove the diesel but it was to slow for her but very good on fuel 50mpg. The only complaint about the 1.6 zetec she has is, she thinks it is very heavy on fuel 32mpg but the 1.8 is supposed to be a lot better. But its all on how you drive it. Hope this helps.

tooly, cheers mate. there is not much difference in the 1.6/1.8 eco stats, but witht he 1.8l it will take less effort to get up to speed etc. so would probably go for that.

i think some test drives might be in order lol

The boot might be the same size as a focus but they are higher, plus the rear seat arrangements really good how you can re arrange them to 2 + 3 or 2 + 2 (which gives more room in the back).

Nice cars, if they're the same 1.6 tdci engine that they put in the focus aren't they supposed to give a bit of bother compared to the other diesels?

My mrs has got a nissan note 1.6 petrol, everyone laughs at it but it is huge inside with a big boot, rear seats slide backwards and forwards depending if you want lots of legroom or a big boot, quite nice to drive, cheap insurance and will do 54mpg if you drive like a nun, we normally average 48-50mpg in it!

My bro had a c-max and loved it, was only a 1.6 zetec spec petrol a tad heavy on fual as to be expected for its size.

I drove it and was very comfy and nice drive, he traded it in for a vauxhall meriva cos it had less than 10k on the clock and hated it so chopped it in but couldnt find a c max at same garage so ended up with a astra

still says he was a fanny for trading in, all because it was due a service/mot and knew it needed discs and pads......... honestly what a fuckin mongo imo

My mum has a 1.8 petrol cmax on a 04 and it normally does mid to high 30s a round town and 40 plus on a decent run, and for the size of it does and handle quite well.
they just need a decent set of rims and a slight drop to make them look a bit better

Not had any experience with one, but have with the brilliant Focus on which it's based (I refer to them as a Focus with an elongated roof ) I know they do a funky Eco boost 2.0T model which sounds quite nice. Should imagine there reliable and fairly economical cars which are spacious inside.

I woulden't go for the 1.6 petrol though due to the fact it will be heavier in the Focus and I woulden't want anything less than the 1600 in a Focus. I think the 1600 Diesel will be better suited, or one of the other Diesel units, especially as your going to be load lugging people/cargo around!

Well specced too

Covered in dents m scratches now though........

A mate has a 1.8d 5spd and says its crap on fuel compared to ours, and he was told by the salesman it was the most economical, found later he was a so called friend so didn't go in amd complain

Friend or not I would have
