Default Expanding foam in the exhaust...

Hypothetically speaking of course:

What would it do?

I mean if you cranked it over (or tried to) - it obviously wouldn't start, but??

Lets say for arguments sake it aint coming out - the stuff will stick to a loose and dusty lime mortar wall, so 6" of it isn't going to be forced out of a pipe in a hurry...

It would crank, it would fire up, but would soon stop, assuming the foam held onto the carbon in the exhaust pipe.
Try it with a potatoe you'll see what happens.

Assuming it holds, what would give out first if you kept cranking it? We can only guess, but what do you reckon?

Starter? Gaskets?

i think it would blow the silencer to bits, igniting the fuel tank, blowing the roof off the said car, sending seats and interior flying, knocking it into gear sending it through the hedge into the nearby fields, taking out cows and sheep in the passing, ending up in the river, drowned with bent con rods IMO

Gases must have just been forced out elsewhere, but under some serious pressure then!

With the exhaust blocked the gas has nowhere to go so if it can't get out the engine will simply stop turning over/stall.

Replacing the exhaust is an option.

In that case, due to the enclosed environment of the exploding exhaust the vapours created by the fuel tank rupturing would be contained within the built up area, creating an ideal "stoich" explosion, flattening your house and all its surroundings, taking out your pet rabbit (yes yet more animal death im affraid) not only that the gas main would be ruptured, creating a second, bigger explosion, very similar to Coronation streets disaster of late, on a bigger scale to what happened in Emmerdale, and with less fit birds than hollyoaks. IMO

Where are the gases going then? I doubt enough would leak out of the manifold or joints in the system?

Chaffe your replys are
As for the topic go and put your hand over the exhaust, once the gas has no escape it will simply stop.If it was blocked partially say a collapsed cat it would struggle, blockage no go.My lad flipped his bike the other week and after 5 minutes of watching him trying to kick it up I wondered over to find the rear can blocked with mud.

say for arguments sake it happened to a lad around our area who had given a mate of mine a pasting when he was on his own and the guy had 8 other people. It was a better idea for us/them.anyone to drill a small hole underneath the where the exhaust met the manifold and leave the nozzle on an open can to fill up both the zust and engine. for arguments sake.

when it gets hot enough to burn, it don't half stink

but it would be much easier and more fun to simply discharge a canister into each of his wheels, just point the pipe into the inside of the rims at the top and then, if you are lucky, not only won't the car move, it will also be glued to the floor

bent a rod my arse how is that going to happen at all? the greatest cyclinder pressure will be when you have good combustion at the top of the stroke. as each piston goes down and then the exhaust gas should go out down the exhaust pipe, it will not be able to do so, so if there is any pressure remaining in the cylinder it will just go out of the inlet valve when that opens instead.

all that will happen is that it will not run as insufficient oxygen will be ingested, and the spark plugs will probably get too wet. remove the restriction and after drying the plugs it should run again.

if the engine could keep turning over and not stall id say the head or manifold gaskets would go first

a little hole in the tyre to fill with foam to?
