All RS Turbos were 1.6, I had both a Fiesta and an Escort. No specials.
Think you may be getting confused with the Fiesta RS1800 that was an 1800 16v but was normally aspirated.
If you bet your mate that there was a factory 1.8 RS Turbo you will be paying for the drinks later.

This was Ford's first attempt at a turbocharged rally competition car, a brief spec below :-
- 1778cc, BDT engine, 200 Bhp (Road) 350 Bhp (Works), aluminum block, developed by Ford & Cosworth.
- Engine mounted longitudinal unlike the transverse mounting for the Escort Mk3 road car.
- Rear Wheel Drive.
- Full independent suspension all round.
- Top speed 140 mph
- 0-60 mph 4.2 (350bhp)

20K+ Super Poster.
Although not the RS that you think of ford did do a 1400cc turbo escort based on the RS2000, called the DRM 1980, ask if he knows about that one, most don't, it competed in the DRM series.
