alot of people use these but there is a modification you need to do to it to prevent it being peeled off

They have been around for years,I have two of them I use.The first generation was a padlock locking one and since then different key varieties.As said though they can be peeled off by the rivet I think but you can mod them by putting a plate on the back.If anyone has pics could you post them up please.I just attacked mine with a welder and welded any gaps up

have had one for many years, but they need to be modded a bit , as they have a few very week spots, google will reveal all, probably youtube these days aswell.

i had to cut one off,went to scotland for the weekend parked the car in a car park and put the lock on,after the weekend went to remove the lock and realized i had left the key in the house,took me 45minutes to remove with only a screwdriver and an 1/2 inch ratchet as a hammer.

I've got one for my rs turbo, keep meaning to modify it. 2 plates over the hinge pin and 2 steel strips down the back either side so it can't be prised off, also wanted to fit a padlock to the bar that swings down to lock it, easily done with a welder so why nae??

do u think if some1 gets passed the lock, alarm, immobiliser.....
the disc lock will stop them?

no, but I do think if there are two cars the same in a car park, one with a diskloc and one without, you've got a better chance your car will still be there and un touched

very good point I work in securty and the best thing to stop theft is layers of security all can be broken for sure but the time and skill it takes to crack each level is what puts most off.

yeah alot of noise and alot of funny looks from people using the car park,but the thing is not one of them phoned the police to check to see if the car was being stolen.

The more security they have to bypass the harder to steal.The ammount of cars that used to go missing without a disklok being fiited was quite high years ago regardless of an alarm being fitted .Bonnet vents/front grills ripped out and disconnecting the pin switch or the alarm.Every little helps imo.

Thats how I see it,ok thay are not truly infallible but its 100% better than nothing.Even if its used more as a visual detterent,worth having one

there was a program on years ago about car theft deterrents the above was one of them the ex car thief they got in to do the demonstrations got in the car removed the disklock and started the car in summat daft like 54 seconds armed with just a flathead screwdriver

Can be removed in less than 5 seconds SILENTLY with the correct tool, but any deterrant is good, 100% better than nothing.

Is thare still a system were you can un-clip the stearing wheel ? like a F1 car ? allway though it was a neet solution thou carring round your wheel is a bit naff.
