Default How much to knock off Cat D write off

A car I've seen getting fixed up is a write off due to vandalism. The guy is fixing it up for himself and has just found it he's having twins so may be selling.

Its an 09 318d msport which would otherwise be worth approx 19-20k

It had oven cleaner squirted all over the body work and they attempted to burn it out. Ended up just the rear seat going on fire and smoke damage but has a whole new/secondhand interior.

I've seen the car before respray so have seen the extent of the damage.

What sort of price would you say for the car once fixed up?

Dunno mate. Now you've said it has made me think your right. Suppose it depends on the loss adjuster on the day.

if a motor has to have a full respray then most we write it off, i have brought loads in the past but everyone has been a pain to sell. all repaired propperly but people are still scared. its a good way of buying a nice motor cheap theo.

The damage he describes would see most cars written off.

constructive total loss, or poss if car is less than a year old and repair costs are over 50% it will then be total lossed.

Insurance may be more difficult to get, and subsequent payouts may be very minimal!

burn damage is easy write off
they dont want it coming back week after week for smells and muck so out it fast
dont put too muhc into it tho
its always worth less loads fo hassl eto sell and if you get hit you get raped on teh value wether its your fault or not
my mum had a car written off twice, once before she had it
they made an offer 2nd time she said stick it, next day they said its prev write off so take it or shove it
she took it fixed it for 400 and took the other 2k on a holiday to oz
