can anyone explain this spring rate buisnnes in lamo terms as i cant make sense of it lol

I thought that was a excellent "lamo" explanation.
As it says, the rate is what force(weight) is needed to compress a given amount, usually one inch.

well basically the coilovers i want have different spring rates and im not sure which set to get?

The spring rate ya need all depends on what ya want to use the car for what sort of car fwd rwd etc.
