I know there are a good few on here that own and enjoy the Clio 172/182's
Ive bought a black Clio 182 with a couple of the cup goodies on it, covered 70k and a one owner car.
I'm really enjoying it but a few silly items have got my mind ticking.
The car picks up and goes reasonably well, but as it hits 5k the tone changes and is almost like it's just been given a sudden kick up the arse of extra horses and it has a new lease of life and screams for the redline, making it feel somewhat flat before 5k in comparism.
Is this normal?
Also, when cornering to the right moderately quickly, and if you catch a slight bump it really seems to upset the car, with the rear having a sudden twitch like it wants to step out RWD style.
Do they suffer with any worn bushes that I should be looking out for or pay attention to, or could it be a front end issue which is making it feel like its the rear?
Also, I knew it needed a couple of rear exhaust bushes but just been checking prices on the diamond shaped ones on the rear silencer, theyre almost £30 each and there's 2 of the buggers, any recommended places to get them cheaply.
Cheers![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
(Ive asked this here as Clio sport only seems to get answers if your already known!)

Have you not seen the one they tested on top gear? They are very twitchy and light on the rear end, go have a search on youtube, clarkson had a blue one cocking its leg a few times around the bends, lol

Normal for the 5k thing, you'll notice a reduced limiter until the car is properly warm too - about 6500.
I found the choice of tyres upsets these cars massively so check you have a good set, even wear and so on.
Example - I went from the standard exalto's on the front of my 182 to some Falkens and it just changed the handling instantly.

Cheers Shings.
Going to get it up on a mates ramp tomorrow, just make sure everything is as it should be, and check tracking/alignment etc.
I guess with all of the talk of clio's in the past, it was guaranteed I'd end up with one.
Still got yours?

Check the rear shockers mate as on of mine was buggered when i bought my clio 172 and caused a bit of unpredictable handling.Once fixed it was great on the road.Very solid little car

Already booked to go in April for Sticky Paul's stag weekend.
And also going out again in August for the nurburgring 700, deposit paid on that one.
D&S, I'll forward you some pics later that you asked for, FRS on RL7's

the 5k power band is not vvt, its when the engine comes peak on the cam, the dephaser starts to work at 2500 rpm, common myth about vvt, that would be lost with a remap, they feel loads better with spacers on the rear, and a rear arb makes the car feel 100% better, but check tyres/shocks/bushs there are a giggle though,

I'm in no rush so I'll find something - but I am considering waiting till the summer and getting a 197 instead.
I do miss them - though my 306GTI6 is just as much fun.
Just make sure you get the diverter pulley checked out - if it sounds like a whine like the power steering its on the way.
With the car stationary/engine off you can give it a tug and see if it rattles - thats another way to tell.

Wrong!!! 5k kick is when it comes on cam properly - strictly speaking they dont have VVT like on Civics etc - I'm sure the VVT turns off at around 1500rpm.
Rear end could be bushes, shocks or tyres.
I've only had the backend come out on mine a couple of times - and that was when I was running slicks on a wet track oh & when my standard tyres went off on track - its very rare that that should happen to be honest if everything else is ok. Its common for them to cock a back wheel though - thats just normal!!![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Kev, it's scarry mate, quite unnerve.
The misses in the passenger seat grabbed for the handle when it twitched, and that's not really pushing it to hard.
This is to be a car for her so I need it to be 100%
