Default ST24 Help Please.....

Could any body tell me why my hub nut keeps coming loose on my mondeo st24?. Changed the wheel bearing on the front three months ago torqued it all back up and now keeps coming loose!

the bearings are heald in by circlips, did you re fit these?

is thee not a notch in the shaft so youtap the nut into to lock it

Yes put new circlips in and used a new nut.
When the nut comes loose the brakes go spongy aswell.

this is because the disc is moving and pushing your caliper open more than usual therefore needin more travel to close it back up, and as said did u band the lip of the nut into the ltttle lockin groove on the shaft?

Bought a new shaft when i did the bearing dont think there is a locking groove on the spline. Will have to have a look. thanks.

As said above you need to carefully tap the lip of the nut
into the groove on the shaft.

took the car today to be checked over and it turns out the bottom arm is porked which has put stress on the wheel bearing hence the noise and nut comeing loose got a new arm and bearing today so will update tomoz when hopefully fixed

There is no way the nut should come loose if it has been fitted properly. As said above, make sure it has been staked into the groove in the shaft.

my bottom arms have been shagged for just under a year, and i havnt had a wheel bearing gone

its down to the nut not being tightened properly and lockingi in id say

I have checked the splines and there is no groove to stake the nut over.
The nut was torqued back up to 340nm.
It was the mechanic that stated the wishbone had put stress on the wheel bearing.

Has the hub nut got a nylon ring on the end of the nut.

Does it not have some sort of locking collar that you hammer over onto one of the flats on the nut? What does the nut arrangement look like on the other side?

the same as the other side as ive replaced both wheelbearings there is nothing on the nut to knock over or any groove on the shaft. ive checked this in the haynes manual thanks
