what car would you have 8.5k
Hi guys i need the low down, warts 'n all. There are a few cars I have been looking at , but there “cheapness” makes me suspicious .... Ok, what would you have from the list below:
(The car needs to be reliable, easy to work on and within a budget of 8.5k)
1) X type jag (sport) - can't believe how cheap these are ??... such a beautiful car!
2) Impreza Hawkeye UK 2.5 wrx , saw a 2006 with 17k on the clock for 8500 from a main dealer!
3) Mark 2 Skoda VRS - love these , can't really fault them.
4) Mondeo ST 220 – so cheap now, but how reliable?
5) Golf mk 4 R32 – still expensive for their age.
6) Megane 225 sport - french reliability scares me
I think at the moment it’s between the impreza, VRS and the Jag.

hi matt,
for some reason i'm edging towards the skoda... i guess its pace can match the impreza with a few tweeks (fmic , remap, miltek)?
im not sure about the jags running costs , and the impreza is hard to work on (for a dunce like me) , the engine bay seems VERY crammed and layout is obviously different to most cars

............
I bought the skoda
had a bit of warranty left and sub 30k miles
Is 240bhp now chipped and does nigh on 40mpg on a gentle motorway trip and a huge boot for all the missus' crap
All depends what you want from a car mate, i just needed one car that does everything well thats well made. I find it unbeatable for value for money
