Default powdercoating fuel tank yes or no

can it be done? i'm sure i read on here it could'nt cant remember the reason why though.

Should be ok but if they have to shot blast before coating so it could be a problem with the grit

I had mine done on my Evo, no problems at all....

FITTED :





If you find yourself a good powdercoater who cares then you'll be fine, the powdercoater i use is a top fella who always prep's everything correctly, he always masks off all threads and mating faces so the powdercoat doesn't screw everything up.

He also washed out the fuel tank so there was no trace of shot or sand in the tank - great bloke.

looks very nice your stuff, scotty, yeah i asked because somone said yes and somone said no but cant remember the reason for it,i do have a good powder coater he does all my work,will give him a call when hes back to work.cheers

Depends on powdercoater really as RSTurbo and Cosworth standard tanks have plastic in them..

My own powder will not do it due to melting the plastic however J1mbo has had his done over his way with no problems

I was told the same, carnt be done as it will melt the plastic inside the tank, so i just painted it.

all depends how hot they bake it due to the plastic swirl pot, powdercoat can be baked at as little as 150 degrees this may be ok may not tho!

Find a powdercoater who uses infared lamps to bake, that won't harm the plastic parts inside the tank.......

Had my Tank on my Lambretta done, also sealed it with Petseal after to stop any rust etc getting into the fuel

i had a cossy one done. plastic swirl pot was fine but the rubber pipe that joins it to the metal one melted
