MK2 XR2 Zetec Help Please
i know that the mk2 xr2 zetec swap has been done before but i need to know what engine would be the best to put in.
would it be the 2.0 silvertop lump from the mk1 mondeos or any other type of silvertop?
or can i use a blacktop from a focus?
also thinking about adding omex or alpha throttle body ingection kit.
just need to know what engine would be the best for the throttle bodys.
many thanks

I agree with above..
The Silvertop is easier to fit but suffers from sticky valves and is technically an older unt. The black top is the better engine of the 2 but requires more work to fit.
Nick.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
a silver top goes in realy easily, you can even use the original xr2 mount,
black top will need a mount fab'd up to get it in,
blacktop will defo need aftermarket management, its just far to much hassle to use the ford stuff,
but the silvertop is realy easy to wire in if you use an early loom and ecu,
with both engines you'll be best to use an aftermarket exhaust manifold(4 branch etc),
the original can be used but they're crap anyhow so not worth making it fit realy,
the cooling system is realy easy, once its in, you'll see its easy enough to plumb up,
escort sump is best on the silvertop, but mondeo can be used but gets in the way a bit

Just leave it alone! everyone I know who took their cvh out has nothing but probs! My advice is rebuild your cvh, you can get good power out them and I think they are quality engines!!! Plus your car bein original is always nice!

Chuck the old cvh pig iron in the nearest hole and bury it.. I fitted a 2.0 Silvertop into mine. You need to change a few bits though, like the sump, pick up etc to a 1.6/1.8 unit as the 2.0 one wont work.
Your best bet is to go on XRtwo.com as said above..

I got a modded silvertop in my track XR, never had any problems.
Sure the blacktop needs pulley mods, as the water pump turns the opposite direction.
As said above, easier install in general.
