i fooking hate hope brakes , really do fooking hate em, the levers are totally shit and wear far too quickly causeing too much play on the lever blade , the original minis had a shit design where the bleed nipple was and the small allen key bolts on the top caps always fooking round off

of for magura discs as ya not gonna boil the fluid doing trials , they have a much more posative eeling lever too , or a hs33 on the front ( notice im a big magura fan

hope discs are the best on the market by a mile.

even their 2 pot versions are better than most other companys 4 or 6 pot brakes

i agree maguras are better for trials because of the ability to feather them but u cant knock a hope brake

but u cant knock a hope brake

ok the brass bush wears the alloy lever due to it being a harder material, causing the levers play , i dont think they work as well as the magura discs EXCEPT when they get hot as mineral fluid dont seem to get along with higher temps ( D/H aint as good idea till they sort that ) the idea of spacers to "fit" the bikes frame is a bodge end of storey !!!!!

oh and the self centerign calipers are always readjusting and then ya gotta swop the spacers eyt again

apart from that there fine

the best feeling lever blade on the market for braking ( not i never said actually sue though) is the shimano 525 levers, im trying to fit 525 levers to a set of the new hope trials calipers when they finish off the rear and see how they work for a customer

even hope admit the bushes to wear the levers and said due to my slating em they "may" look into it

ive got one of there old Ti cassete hub and i used to have the old hope Ti dye spokes on my bike, in do rate the hopes stuff but i dont think there actually that good at there brakes , but alot of companies aint that good at em either, im also confused why all the mountian biek mags always give em 10/10 when they aint perfect

ive had my DH4 for around 3- 4 years ive not had to change any parts exept the pads.

and ive only had to bleed them 6 times maybe in that time. the new mineral one ive never used. but they have got rather good brakes all round i think

its probably the only part of my bike i have never had to replace

no the nick name was from back in 93 actually, they madea 2.8 series frame m600 ( the one i just got rid of actually ) the frame weighed in a 2.8 pounds and most of em in the states broke, they done a big recall but never bother over here as not as many people at that time used em "off road"

mine never snapped though BUT just cause i never used my off road as the frame flex was sooooo fucking bad i couldnt get the rear brakes to work well enough to do fook all but slow me down, i fitted a carbo magura brake booster and a fooking heavy fred salmon brake booster ( they was the stiffest at the time but the cheepest and most heavy) and then the actual frame stay pushed out insead

hence why in never botherd with em off road

Bout the same summer we all got bought delta v's and snapped three of 'em between us Any light bike with thinwall butted oversized tubing that has the welds filed and polished without being re-heat treated afterwards is asking for trouble.....and the warranty department got it.

Hope brakes are great!

I have a Mono 6 Ti, Mono M4, Mono Mini and an old Enduro 4 on my bikes, and rate them very highly indeed

Never had a problem with the levers tbh, tho I agree that the old pro levers were a little shonky

the newer levers are fooking manky, trust me as the 2 partimers at work have em and they are pants, ive have to file and fit washers to sort the problem out for em

hence why i phoned hope to complain

Alot of my mates run Hope Mini on the front, but not the Hope lever. They run a Carbon Fibre lever and have had no problems with them.

Pashley frames come with lifetime guarentee Well mine does, and ive only broke 2 But were replaced instantly

One was ripping the rear brake boss off when i dropped off a school roof onto a picnic bench. Bout a 12ft drop.

Othertime was a 18ft drop onto a railing that i misjudged and shattered the BB shell

bet ya never mentioned that when ya done the warantee

what carbon levers btw as im deffo looking in to em , just i feel that hope dont machine the stuff to the price of the stuff they charge

but they do work beter when hot, just the levers i fooking hate the most, fitting issues are a problem for me as i fit em and bleed em but when there on there fine, just they dam levers

There's something wrong with me though......... I just sit there for ages absorbing the beauty of the Paintwork and Welding!
thats nothing i spent 30 mins showing a guy in work and explaining the roberts brazing frame finish and why its sooooo smooth

kelin are fooking nice bikes, the 94, is that the pink/yellow fade frame [/quote]
No I've got the Horizon linear fade which is Pink to purple to blue..... just mesmerising!
The colour you mentioned was Backfire which first appeared on the mighty Adroit which boasted Boron fibre reinforcements!
