Hmmmm, I'm not sure on Specialised. They route the cabling under the BB where all the sh1t collects. Also they do insist on using some stupid seat post diameter rather than 27.2 like everyone else so I cant use my USE Carbon Alien post.

http://www.specialized.com/SBCBkMode...njgkgha.j27009

This looks quite nice though.....

yup, they use 30.9 which is a bit of a shitter for us in the shop, as we have to keep loads spare cos they keep getting nicked all the time. I think Spec are the only people to use 30.9 aswell.

yeah i know you work there bud, was just playing with ya.
Yeah i service forks, we have got revive kits for the SID's aswell. If you go to rockshox website, they have downloadable PDF workshop manuals. What year are they? and what colour?

BTW, what are those carrera specialized epic copies all about? do they actually work??

what the LRS range ( similer to the old GT LTS frames or the newer ones made by the same people who make the kona dawg matic the latest style frame, called a banshee, in cherry red

oh either way there shite

trust me as i work for halfords i can tell ya there bollox, i got a trade course to attend on9th of feb and there gonna show us the "new range" of bikes

its a day out the office and a fun drive in the cossie to birmingham too

downsode is i gotta act like all the new bikes are any good

the world cups are the silver legged carbon crown and steerer, they need a service but the rockshox instructions ya download is fooking shite, i sped ages trying to service the red judy SL's woth em and they ilustatiosnwhere a different fork, in the end i just done it my own way and then the fookers had no rebound

dont wanna fook these ones up though , the handle bar lock out aint allowing the shock to lock out anymnore, theres a half inch travel still on em

hmmm, just strip them and have a look. They are a odd fork as you have to add the red rum shite to the bottom of the fork leg AFTER you have stuck the sliders in. I hate Rock Shox TBH, shitty twangy forks. you could always send them off to tim flooks @ TF Shox, he is the bollox, and custom valves them to the customer. If you need his number, i have it @ work.

b19 bal - true I could use a shim but I'm a perfectionist and hate crap like that.

BTW - Dave Hinde is a mate of mine. The M4+ has been out for an age now, as has the M6 (there is no M5 as Spesh tried to sue them as they have the copyright on the M5 bikr name - in reply Dave went out and copyrighted the biking use of M6 to M99 ) Dave's bringing out an M7 soon - it wont be as light as the M6 but has a complete carbon rear triangle rather than jsut the wishbone on the M4+. The tubing is some really funky shape with a flat bottom and curved sides. MBR currently have an M7 frame for trials.
I have an M3 decked out in XTR and it climbs like a whippet, weighs jsut under 23lbs not fast enough downhill or I'm not brave enough over the rocks!

Red rum is Rock Shox own special "oil" that you stick in the bottom of the fork legs to control the damping effect. Did it on some old dukes+Psylos'. Your supposed to use it in the wiper seals too, but its total bollox. Marzocchi's are great to service as they are piss easy to do. I have never done a pair of Pace, so i dunno what they are like.

the m4+ was what i was talking about , the carbo rear wish bone is a bling idea , im not a fan of the tube shapes on the m3 hinde ( but then my explosif aint much better tbh ) the guyb that had the hinde loved it, he was like me inton cross country too, i dont go downhill fast enough to even need suspention tbh hence why i dont use it , i used to have one of the first 10 lts frame in the country and tbh i never got along with it

i went back to rigid and my places never changed

im not that muxh upo to speed on the recnet bikes tbh, i used to manage a cycle shop when i was younger and used to race back then too but i moved away from it but after a year with playing woth bikes and repairing em im getting back into em abit more now , cheaper than a car thats for sure

Sounds like you're like me going downhill then!
The M3 tubing is a bit naff I suppose. The M4+ tubing is Columbus Airplane and looks super sexy - M6 Starship is jsut unreal - when you flick it, it sounds as thin as a coke can! M6 frame in 18" size weights 2.1 lbs !!!! thats what - 950g?!

theres a sping fork, jsut strip down and clean and regrease

thats it, there sooooooooooooooooo simple, the only reason why i say marzochi are harder as they are a oil based fork and ya get oil mees where the pace dont

that red rum will explain the lack of dampning then , im guessing its a thick weight oil

good job i asked before i stripped 500 quids worth of fork down forst isnt it

fook me, i just got rid of my 2.8 series cannondale as that was too flexi and crap, but 2.1 thats silly , id like to test that one

thats nothing i spent 30 mins showing a guy in work and explaining the roberts brazing frame finish and why its sooooo smooth

kelin are fooking nice bikes, the 94, is that the pink/yellow fade frame

yeah its like gearbox oil buddy. I used that instead when i ran out, and does the same job. The marzocchi's with the springs you are on about are the MZ COMP. They are made by suntour, and even have the same top caps. They are shite though as they just blow through the travel, and bottom out, HARSHLY, as you probably know....

no the sping based ones i was talking about are the pace

the marzochis i prefer to service are the air/oil ones as there soooo easy

like the bombers

im gonna pick ya brain at the passionford meet on wednesday so be prepaered

as if i get my way i might be buying the sid world cups off the guy for 200 quid if all goes well hence why im asking about doing em proper

otherwise i would just pump more air into em

AHHHH right, thought you meant the Marz's. You can pick my brain as much as you want mate. But i know that the Sids have a lockout problem on them anyway, as we have a 04 s-works epic that we sold, and it kept coming back with a fecked lockout mechanism, so we just sent them back to madison, who changed the internals. But, for Ł200, thats a bargain.

the lock out did work knwo i allows a bit of movment then locks out totally

its good to have a fresh pair of eyes on the problems too and adivce and help from others aswell

besides all i get is the problem bikes usually

ive sorted the shimano brake problem i had though , belive it or not the guy never actually rode the bike 20miles since he had it as when he started to use the bike the brakes squeeled so he stuck it in the garage unltil his service was due

hope are hopfully gonna redesign there brake leaver due to my coooooting the design off though , they did say that there compatible with the shimano duel brake levers though ( guess he recons the lever will always be crap from hope )

will deffo cht to ya on wednesday

I've got a pair of Judy race on my M3 - they're 4 yrs old now and totally shafted!

The M6 frame is pretty stiff for the very light weight, its stiffer than Scandium (and a bit lighter too) it under goes some sort of pressurised heating that adds alot of surface strength - check out the Columbus web page for the details.

In my experienc of snapping all things bike related i would only ever have Marzocchi or Fox forks...i have broken or had major trouble with forks from every other major manufacturer apart from PACE. Rockshox in particular are flimsy mass produced crap and that goes for the rear shocks too if they still do them.

rockshox are ok there just a right coont to service

my only issue with pace forks is there designed for a weigh of the rider being no more that 11 stone, im a "tiny" bit more than that , same as the kona stinky i got one at work i can buy for 675 quid but id have to get a harder rear spring as its like a bing soggy sponge when i play on it

i may still buy it though, not sure yet

i never really liked the pace stuff, too x-country never seemed like it would take anything more than riding up a hill. the only carbon forks ive ever trusted is my manitou milleniums, there the onl;y forks that have ridden better than my old Z1's !!ive seen so many many people who ride DH snap carbon stuff.
im riding a kona chute frame at the mo which for a kona is quite a tough little frame. next frame for me tho is the 24 pornking, what a frame, built like a tank!!! and it comes in pink!!!

yeah a mate of mine is saving for one of them, but there jump bikes like the chute, tbh the kona chute frames are very over priced and ya diont get the kona thing wth em as kona are a cross country stiff light weight and comfortabkle frame

the chute is none of them , just a jump bike with a kona sticker on it ( they aint even made or designed by kona , look at halfords carrera range of hard tail bikes and tell me what ya notice

oh and carbon is not a d/h material in anyway !!!!

remeber that carbon when ya take a hit with it then its wrote off so when ya crash and what the carbon bars next impact the snap !!!!!

hence why carbon stuff is for th cross country market

they been trying to put carbon into Dh for a while now but as you say its x-country and nothing else. you only have to look at the GT lobo, which one of my mates snapped 2 in as many month when they come out.
i never knew that about the kona chute tho, next time im in a halfords will be looking around for the carrera. they are expensive though for a hardtail. i got mine for Ł100 and it was a yr/2 yr old. no way id pay Ł450 for one!!
to be honest i cant see a stronger frame out there today that looks as good as the pornking. im running out of frames as the M1 and the tazer are seen as some of the strongest on the market and ive snapped both.

how have ya snapped em though, crashing dont count remember , what ya need to buy is a raleigh frame, im not taking the piss, ive never seen a snapped raleigh steel frame ever

ive snapped a few frames in my days, never snapped a GT zasker frame and i had a fooking hard crash with that and ended up with a fook off dent on the down tube, still never snapped though

im got back to a steel frame as when i snap that i just get it rewelded

You need a Curtiss made from T45 steel then if you are a frame snapper looking for a hardtail..........it had a lifetime guarantee last time i looked and is super strong.
