Default cossie 4x4 oil pump priming best option?

going to be fitting the sump to my engine this week and I want to know the best way to prime the new oil pump, the engine wont be fitted and running for a couple of months.
I have so far been recomended to fill it with vasiline or light grease (which I have some on the shelf) or just use oil.
any one got any ideas?

Use some heavy weight oil like a 20W just to fill the pump, vaseline can be used but doesn't disolve that fast when cold in the oil.
If only a few months just wet the internals of the pump with 20 weight oil and put together, spin over with plugs out when starting to get pressure up, will be fine with that.

best way to prime a YB is take the dizz out and use a long socket on the shaft that comes up from the oil pump and put a drill on it spin it over and this will prime the pump and push it round the motor . hope you under stand wot im saying

Sorry dude that's not the way! Ian has the correct solution on above post.....

Dizzy out, 6mm 1/4 drive socket on an extention and spin up with a drill clockwise.

So I don't need to prime it at all then?
Will just slip the belt off and stick me windy gun on the dizzy drive pulley if that's ok?
Thanks for the advice so far guys

No, belt stays on, you would be driving the hex shaft into the pump.

You could do it that way but doing it with the dizzy out means you cand also turn the engine over.

Also when it comes to starting make sure you have got oil at the turbo before you fire it up.

You do it your way, I'll do it mine, hasn't given me a problem in 31 years, there is no load that is going to be a problem at cranking speeds till the pressures up.
