Im not sure anyone has bothered to colate that information from enough sources to be useful TBH

Few people have done great numbers at ford fair but the timing gear is a bit suspect.

Martin did a 2.88 IIRC on his old escort on proper timing gear.

I should think that rwd julian godfrey yb powered ford probe is well under 2 seconds so probably the quickest overall.

Its a drag car running either a BDT engine or a YB

Either AG's Focus or the SCS Escort have probably done the fastest 4x4 0-60

Rwd I would imagine would be some of the rwd oldschool stuff.

Reyland Escort, SCS Escort and the two AG Focus' have gotta be the quickest 4WDs that I know of. All sub 3 sec apparently. There was also the old Steve Scott MK6 Fiesta wasn't there? Not sure what happened to that mind.

FWD, wasn't Paul Ripley's Fiesta RST the fastest known FWD at one stage? Was a sub 5 I believe.

Not sure about RWD though. Some pretty mad MK2 Escorts about though, running in the 10s, so one of them?

Do you mean the grey BDT-E powered one?

Evil car that! Didn't it do Brighton Speed Trails and record some very low times. Sure it was doing 60 in less than 3 seconds?

Fuck that was a wet day!!!

IIRC he was hitting the rev limiter in top, then back to zero three times before the car went over the crest of the hill!

I was under the impression your best time was 5.4 dude. You have been the quickest on the day in the car, but i don't recall the car dipping into the 4's mate.

Yeah the grey one with that old turbocharged engine fitted.

if pat doran did do 0-60 in 1.9 that shows the improvement from when things started getting serious in the early 80's.

Its documented that john welch's escort was officially tested by the magazine Motor at a average of 2.7 secs to 60 mph and 0-100 in less than 7 seconds.

that was faster than f1 turbo cars and 1000bhp drag cars.

Over in Norway however the cover of the Swedish magazine Teknikens Värld, issue no 21 of October 10 1984, reads:

"Schanches Escort 4WD: 0–100 pĺ 2,5 sek!"

not bad for 26 yrs ago in a ford escort.

would be very interesting to see Fast Ford come up with a 0-60 comp shoot out
