Default Veyron running cost

taken from ph lol,a set of tyres for such car is a minty mint escort cosworth how the other life live eh?
The price of 2nd hand Veyrons has made me start looking more seriously at buying one. I've got my eye on one that can be got for £650K ish.

I have heard some amazing figures relating to running the car and I wondered if anyone here has any REAL experience they could impart.

Before anyone says, the obvious: If you can afford the car, you can afford to run it; I would never get in to any purchase of this size without having my eyes wide open. I have heard stories form where I get my LP640 serviced of £20,000.00 for a set of tyres with 5000 mile change intervals and a £40,000 set of wheels every 3 changes. I've also heard of service costs of £25K.

I have owned and run a number of super cars including the current LP640 all with substantial running cost but the figures I've heard are enormous. I don't know if any of this is true or pub-talk

Anyone who has actually owned and run a Veyron willing to fill me in, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks,

johnnyreggae

30-50k per annum for insurance
this quote tickled me

The frustration of having to constantly slow down so the Enzo/MC12/SLR/Zonda/XJ220 can catch up would become tiresome very quickly *grin*

I think its possible this is the first car that truely breaks that rule, which is normally very true. The costs of servicing, tyres and wheels is absolutly insane!

Apparently they tyres need hanging every 2500 miles and you have the change the rims every 3rd tyre change, and you won't get change from £35k for all that. Don't forget that this is a car that reputedly cost £5 mill in real terms to buy so that's just a small chunk of change tobyour average gazzilionaire who can afford to buy one of these things. Apparently it's a bit rich for the likes of jensen button as well from what ibreqd as he was itching to flog his one a while back

Those Veyron numbers are correct. Monstrously expensive to run, a car for genuine multi-millionaires (like the bastard round my way who has one !)

Apparently the wheels have to be crack tested using uv technology after every 3 sets of tyres. because of the stress on them.

The first Service on a Veyron costs £13,645 – and then they get more expensive. Bugatti says the bulk of the cost is labour £6000 which includes the checking of the many and complex systems on the car. Then there’s the monumental cost of replacing the Veyron’s bespoke tyres, something Bugatti insists is done every 2500 miles. They cost £6325 each and to make matters worse only Bugatti can fit them. Also all 4 wheels need to be replaced every third tyre change ( after 7500 miles tops ) and that will set you back £29,900. At least you get a 2 year warranty with a Veyron but if you want to extend it then you’ll be asked for an extra £38,000 for a year or £63,000 for 2 years. Just 4 years of ownership, 3000 miles and £275k of depreciation would cost £38.51 per mile.

Go on? Genuinely interested in what other cars would make a multimillionaire think twice, from new. The running costs of these do seem to be much much higher than Zondas, Enzos etc.

I presume this is the guy who got the Veyron from the auction ?

Some seriously worrying facts about running one

A guy locally had one sitting on his drive and I was half tempted to go and have a chat and try and talk him into taking me out in it, now I know it costs £35 a mile to use I expect I know what the answer would of been !

Unbelievable figures .... I think Ill leave owning one of these to our Arab friends who seem to have one for every day of the week up London.

I was speaking to a guy at work who has a new Lambo.. He got out of the car and started to look at one of his wheels as his missus had kerbed it. He just looked at me and said " oh well thats 5K, its only money "... I would have had a heart attack if I got quoted that for 1 rim..

You never mentioned anything about multi-millionaires, you simply said that anyone who can afford to buy "x" car can afford to run it. And there are plenty of cars where that is simply not the case.

Jets are cheaper Gareth

http://jalopnik.com/5449046/veyron-o...travel-cheaper

I actually think alot of its hyped up. The wheels need be be checked every fourth tyre change not replaced.

Its still mental money to look after... much not as much as its depreciating actually!

I'd love to drive one. I think its an incredible feat of engineering. Its MILES ahead of anything else out there really in what in can do and in the 'way' it can do it.

Concorde was miles ahead of other planes and that was super expensive to use and run in comparison.

I LOVE the fact that it exists.

6.5k for a tyre? Seriously? Whats goes into the tyre to make it 6500 pound?!?!? How can it possibly cost that much more. Is this not a case of Bugatti losing money on the car and reaping it back in service costs?

Its ridiculous!

Ah the tires are special 250MPH jobbys ... Basically they can charge whatever ..

Is all this expense a LEGAL requirment?

Am sure you could change a little oil and spin on a filter ..

The tyres last for about 12 mins at 280mph, you tell me that what other tyre can do that and not disintergrate, remebering the car can do over 250mph and i believe the size of the rears are some where near 365/710ZR540A 108Y Michelin Pilot Sport
