MASSIVE thanks to Beefy and Matt (Guzzler)
Well some of you know that i bought the focus RS from Matt (guzzler) last week, and you'll know that sadly i broke down in the middle of the freezing cold night on the way home from matts. Well heres the story and how all other people should be when your dealing with them. Sadly not all people will be as nice as these two!
I made an offer for the car in question after i asked the missus if i could get some of my cash........, i knew she liked them and tought fk it, i'll have a bash (was meant to be buying a cheap run around) my arguement was at the money we were getting it for it was a cheap runaround!! haha
tubular manifold, forge actuator, airtec front mount cooler, piper cams, graphs for 290bhp oh and a flamer kit!!! haha.
cant complain eh...
Well thought i would get down on the friday night and drive it through the night as i was going to aberdeen on the sunday for a course all week and wanted to spend the day with the kids before i went. Asked matt if it was cool and he agreed it would suit him, So easy jet plane ticket later and i was at luton where matt picked me up and took me back to his to see the car. Had a look around and a wee spin and we were good to go. Once we finished bullshitting about cossies! ended up leaving about 11:30 ish!
Well at Wetherby Moto services i decided to fill the car up with more fuel at 01:30. God i wish i hadnt done that!!!!
Within 3 miles the thing starteed missing badly and losing power, i had already pulled off the A1 and was going to nip across the A59 cos the A66 was closed due to snow. I pulled in at St James retail park and this is where i would spend the rest of my night.
I got out and tried a few things, i knew there had been a recent coil pck etc on so had a fumble. Then the cops turned up!
"is this your car son" "eh, i just bought it" "uhuh" says the cop!!
turned out he was a good un and didnt interfere too much, by this time i was on the phone to Matt (02:00) sorry mate really didnt want to phone but i was freezing!!!. We went over a couple of things and thought we had it when one of the plugs clicked back on. But nope.... Well to make a long story shorter, phoned the AA, they sent a local recovery truck with someone that didnt have a clue at 03:30, eventually told him to bugger off once he wouldnt take me to Glasgow, even offered to pay for it! And sat in the car trying to figure out what to do.......Its amazing how cold a car gets at night in minus 5! Well i then realised i was kinda close to Middlesborough...........................Phone out.........Beefy called (04:00)..........................
"cutch, do you know what fkn time it is!!!!"
"sorry mate"
"cutch its 04:00 in the fkn morning!"
"yeah mate REALLY REALLY sorry, this is whats up......"
The guy is a FKN star!!!! he got out of bed and started phoning all the recovery firms around his bit, where i was and york, just to try and get someone to come get me... We eventually got one and the took me up to his house...
Never seen a guy so pleased to see me at 06:00 in the morning after i have woke him up when he's had 2 hours sleep! Once again beefy say sorry to the missus!!
Well we spent the day messing around with it, wnet and bought new coil pack, leads and plugs to try, nothing helped Matt was on the phone trying to problem solve too. Called the AA again and told them i wanted a tech to come this time and while i was talking to them for the 3rd time an AA van skidded to a halt besdie the car. (me and Beefy were just about to tuck into a nice fry up! damn it) well the guy helped us problem sovle and eventaully came up with something in the fuel system, we popped the line off the fuel rail and checked the fuel to see the it wasnt contaminated but could tell, (looked ok) but some of us are still not convinced. talked to matt and we thought it might be the fuel pump too, Matt offered a decent fuel pump and said he would post it first thing. and the realisation hit me that i was getting a train to Glasgow! ah well (after beefy offering to drive me home)
Said my goodbyes to the boys and caught a train home. Got in at 20:00 Sat night. Beefy and his bros looked after the car sitting outside their house, ( i wouldnt have fkd with it, i saw his bros) ......(frank the tank)
Well during the week two fuel pumps arrived from matt , thanks mate and beefy got the car taken down to a local mates garage where they started diagnosing the problem, first the hooked up a 12v supply to the pump and pumped out all the possibly dodgy fuel and flushed lines with new stuff. tried it and it nearly came to life......Matt and beefy were on the phone going through some other possiblities when the came to the Mass air flow sensor, TADA car burst into life......one Mass air flow sensor ordered and the next day it was running sweet.
I picked it up yesterday had a great time looking at a real 6R4 and a racing escort cossie.....jealous as fk! back to beefs for a bit then hit the road. took it easy all the way up but once i got to glasgow decided i was close enough if i burnt out the clutch.....started botting it......no clutch problems......hmmm booted it some more......goes like stink, even with the boost turned down a bit....cant figure out if the air flow sensor had been doing something to make the car lose power once the turbo had been spun up previously......ah well, not grumbling one less thign to worry about!! yeehaa..
So all in all, a bit of a shitty experience but i couldnt have asked for more of the guys. truly in debt to you, if theres anything you need give me a call!
Matt could have told me to fk off it wasnt his problem at 2 in the morn but he didnt, he sat up and tried to figure it out over the phone and sent two decent fuel pumps to beef to help out. even found me a cheap clutch!
Beefy, as always mate i'm at a loss for words. he worked on my car for me when i was at work and all he took was a cuddle and a mars bar!! Top bloke, you better bring that fished cossie up to my wedding!!!

Like I said in the for sale ad,this is the type of support you get off buying a car from a forum rather than some dodgy cunt on eBay,ok sometimes they cost a touch more(not in this case) but your paying for the support of a whole community as well.at the end of the day, guzzler could of told cutch to fuck off,it's not my problem but I'd guarantee nobody would buy off guzzler again, but to do what he did was beyond the call of duty really and again proves the extra benefits of community.
Great news the cars sorted fella,if it's made by the same company that makes them for vauxhalls they break very easily,I had that exact same prob on a Corsa, missing all the time when revving and it was the afm, swapped it and it's been right since.
Great to hear of a happy ending and good aftersales from some top men.
Also beefy=legend!!!

Glad it's sorted Cutch, when the phone went around 2am i could not believe it, felt really bad, spoke to you, sat in bed thinking what it could be....... Called you back to if you found anything and if you were ok, that's when you were sorting recovery, fair play to Beef, me and Cutch were saying what a legend Beef is before Cutch left, Beef lived up to and went beyond his status, hats off to him
The 3 of us were in contact this week trying to get it sorted, got it resolved in the end, the best bit,,,,,,, proves that PF still has some great members, myself, Beef and Cutch are old skool PF'ers and petrol heads, I hope other members can get on as well and help each other out
As for Cutch, when he called, he was as cool as a cucumber, couldn't have delt with a nicer chap
