Default Vivaro Question

Had the clutch and slave cylinder replaced 4 weeks back, but the van has been back twice because the peddle goes flat to floor, so today it had a master cylinder fitted hopefully this will solve it

this is the second time ive had this done on a vivaro and my last one i lost for 3 weeks due to same problem

So why are vivaros clutches so shat?

No. It's a Renault Traffic with a Vauxhall badge on it.

Talk about making the worst out of a bad situation. Starting off as a renault, then being dirtied with a vauxhall badge

Mate of mine had the same issues with his vivaro, he ended up getting shot of it and bought a transit, best move he ever made!

Without hijacking this thread, are they a good van overall? My mk6 transit is getting a bit tired now and I fancy a lwb version. I wouldn't mind the auto either to avoid the gearbox problems, plus my left knee is getting quite bad.

Gavin.

I'm on my second Vivaro Jon with no problems what so ever.
I keep hearing of people with niggles in them but I've loved driving both of mine

Not really, as a Vauxhall Vivaro IS a Renault Traffic with a different badge

What are you on about? It's identically the same van apart from a badge on the front.

There are many Renault Tagic/Vauxhall Vivaro/Nissan Primastar and Renault Bastard/Vauxhall Movano/Nissan Interstar with parts fitted from the other manufacturers dealers as there are big price differences for the same part.

The ones we maintain cost a fortune to stay on top of. Keep the miles down and they're usually not too bad. They just can't cope with being a fleet van or abused. If you do get one, sell it before 100k miles as they start to cost after that.

That's how they all go unfortunately. The Masters/Movano's follow the same trait. Some of them we maintain have had to have 6k over 9 months spent on them to keep them going and they didn't have mega miles on the clock either.

Yeh this is my third lol, great vans to drive and they dont rust, But just hope you never have to replace the clutch

My last one i did 60k in it and replaced

Clutch, master and slave cylinder
Fuel pump
Egr valve((van held back until ecu light came on then it would run fine)
Dash stopped working

But other than the above it was fine

Ive also got a Transit which we have done 15k no probs(touch wood)

My first Vivaro clocked up 75k, all it ever had was servicing, brakes and Tyres.

The new one (10 plate) I've had a little over 4 months and it's just hit 21k, first service was done last week and no problems with it as yet

Common problem on these bud, its the clutch pedal master cylinder thats faulty, if you look under the clutch pedal youl see the little black cylinder.

The clutches and slaves are weak on them also, much like the gearboxes. Theyre not designed for much abuse unfort. We get a lot with this complaint, pedal going to the floor, usually replace the clutch pedal master 1st as its the cheapest, then its the clutch and slave.

my dad has a 06 plate traffic has been nothing but trouble from day 1 seat belts dont retract properly, brakes are shite, lights always popping up on the dash turbo has sooo much lag its dangerous trying to pull out at roundabouts thats been a problem from new thats all i can think of at the moment lol its had full renault service history they have it and either say theres nothing wrong or they have fixed it charged a fortune for it but it feels no different to how it went in.

i have a 55 plate master and its not been as bad but i wouldnt recommend one to anyone fooking horrible to drive

my forman had a 53 plate master, clutch slave cylinder heater controls, gearbox shagged you name it went wrong
all are company vans none of us would choose one if we were buying with our own money
