Default Insurance what a joke

I'm a 32 year old with 10 year no claims trying to insure a 96 bmw 318is and can't find insurance for less than £900

Now i have 3 points for speeding and had an accident last feb so i thought i wonder how much that is costing me. So i went onto churchill and plumbed the details in without the conviction or accident not that i would insure without declaring them it was just to see and it still came out over £900

Mate I have literally just got off the phone after having a row with mine. had a non-fault accident in August which I've been fully paid out on including my excess and my insurance company haven't reinstated my protected NCB as they haven't been paid out yet by the other insurer ! Told them that ain't my fault or my problem, I was in no way to blame for the accident so I'm not being penalised. Had renewal quotes through for a 2005 TDCi Mondeo of £800 plus ! I'm 38 and have got 20 years worth of NCB's on both my cars ! The woman there to be fair to her called the other insurer and had it confirmed they have paid out etc and will be settling my insurer but why should I have to kick them up the arse to get them to do it ? They would have been quite happy to take my money had I not queried and just paid the renewal of that there's no doubt !

What I don't get is my S1 I pay £250 for, full comp, fully protected etc yet a Mondeo (or previously my TDDi Focus) I pay more than double for ! I know the S1 is on a limited mileage scheme via the RSOC but even so....

Hmmmm that just gave me an idea wonder if a 96 bmw qualifies for classic insurance. I know what your saying i chose not to have a nice car because i aint got anywhere to keep on and the little scrotes tend to key the newer cars round here i've been lucky upto now so you'd think having a shitter would help keep the cost down but i refuse to pay £900 plus to insure it....

ican insure my modified xr2 for less than £800 and it has a vast amount of mods including a 23psi 1.8 zvh engine on stand alone management sitting on coilovers with a cage etc.
my seat ibiza gti which is almost standard is a shed by comparison and i was getting quotes of 2k+ from most companies.
i'm 27 with 7 years no claims ( i lost 2 due to an accident a few years back)

And you're in West Sussex which is a low risk area - my other half has a house in Haywards Heath which is where she insures a 2007 Audi A4 ragtop. She's got 4 accidents in the last 5 years and still only pays £600

I have just re done my insurance on my van, it was £395 tpft last year with 5 years ncb and having a £500 excess. This year it's £448 fully comp, 6 years ncb and £250 excess! I have got 6 points for no insurance and my old man has got 3 for speeding.

I seriously have no idea how they get their prices!!

Btw compare the Market were cheapest by over £150 for me.

Gavin.
