see em in some right funny places, while back in the local scrapyard there was one, on a dumped xr4x4 with a police aware sticker on it. They just crushed the car as nobody bothered with it.

the sprintex superchargers are a rare conversion, you might be lucky to find one.
i would go for a janspeed turno conversion over a t.t kit if possible as they seem the better conversion. alot rarer though.

plus remember capri and sierra kits are different. the lads on interford know a fair bit about these.

Slightly relevantly, according to Performance VW a couple of years back, there's only 3 Turbo Technics Golfs left. Bit of a bugger that, I broke 4 last year...

You'll struggle to find a Sprintex kit dude.

The TT kit on Ebay looks a bit ropey.

The essential bits to get are the nearside turbo header, the xover pipe and the boost retard dizzy capsual. Everything else can be a custom job.

About 2/3 of the way down is a pic of the Janspeed single turbo conversion.

If you wanna buy IM me, comes with a free XR4i!

they're allowed to do what they want, they simply choose not to, they gave all that kinda stuff up in the late 80s / early nineties.

they still do supercharger conversions for elises or something, but i think thats about it as far as aftermarket conversions goes...

IIRC them sprintex supercharger conversions give pretty shite power increase anyhow, esp compared to the turbo conv's

Regarding the Janspeed conversion..
This one-

Is NOTHING like the one i had years back for a bit. The one on mine had a bigger turbo than that one seems, larger boost pipes, 5th injector, etc etc.

Also was external wastegate, cant tell if that one is (the external wastegate was bottom mounted and literally a few inches from the ground, it wasnt a car that could go near speedbumps...)

Steve the Sprintex figures are suprisingly good. Someone one in the XROC has them somewhere. They wee-weed all over the turbo. I think the figures were from an independant test too.

Steve is this the setup you are more familair with?

I believe the Capri and the Sierra kits were very different, the Capri being uberare, in fact I think I read that the Capri kits may never have got past development.

I have to say the Capri kit looks the daddy!

the basic ones should still be about 200-250bhp

but where they excel is that they got shedloads of torque to boot, much moreso than the turbo ones. so even tho on paper they look similar power, the S/C ones would blow a turbo one away

unless ofcourse you attend an XR Turbo thrash in your blown XR and then it wont perform well at all

LOL I was thinking exactly the same!

Seems to be a lot of theory and little practical in this area. Noone seems to have proven the claims but of course they don't have to.

I imagine getting experienced information on even basic maintenance and tuning can be a struggle with these kits tho.

I'd certainly love to try one and see for myself.
