Default where the best place for the spark plug on a flammer kit?

hi all, my friends just fitted a flammer kit on his cossie, which i thought would throw so many flames when it boosts up but surprisingly it doesnt! he fitted the spark plug about 4" back from the tip and its fitted in the side.

where do people put theres to get loads of fire?

cheers

he will probably also need to cut a hole in the tail pipe just after the box to allow air to get in.

have a search for phil2400's saph, that thing flamed like a mofo!

you need a hole for the plug and a hole to get air in, as it needs to be able to suck oxygen in to flame

do they flame as its rising up the revs? i thought they just did it on the over-run, or does a kit do it anytime?

For extra flames why not run a fuel can in the boot and connect it to your exhaust like this bloke-

bit slow in the first half but gets better lol!

I remember YEARS ago (9 or 10) with my S2... I had a flamer kit (Mike R one) and it hardly flamed at all! I think SCC fitted the boss for the plug and took them ages to drill through the pipe.

A few months went by and I took it to Mark Shead at MAD for a set up... during which time he altered something on the throttle body (I think) to make it flame more.

Jesus Christ! The journey home was soooo funny! It was like the car was permanently on fire from the rear! So many people shitting themselves next to me on the M25.

Of course, having grown up.. I would never have another one. But it was such a laugh at the time.

I've never had a hole drilled to let air in. Interesting!

My 3dr, when I had it first time round, flamed like a right mo-fo. It's good on the 3dr as you know it's flaming because you see the reflection on the underside of the spoiler

Both my saffs were nowhere near as good.

I still have the flame box fitted to the 3dr so i might have to get it rigged up for a laugh.

Yes, I am still a child.

Oh BTW, the most fun I had with the flamer and the general public was when the firemen were on strike in Aberdeen and all out with banners etc outside the fire station. I drove round a couple of time and deliberately flamed beside them. The look on their faces was priceless.

Adjusted the TPS I'd have thought, that's what we used to do and worked VERY WELL on RST's

Yes that's what was done.

I had no extra hole for air either.

A friend of mine fitted one to his skyline and it worked fine. After a little blast down the M25 and showing it off confirmed it worked ok.

Parked up and let it idle at a service station. The then tried to flame it on the spot but didnt work at all. Turns out when the idles and when the exhaust system starts to condensate the spark plug gets wet. Rev it for a bit and the spark will come back on.

This might be the case with your mate
